Solid hot rolled metal rod

I used this 1/4" rod to build some bases for some acapulco chairs. It's definitely overpriced for what it is, but this was more convenient than going to a metal shop

The hot rolled steel that I purchased works great for what I use it for. I have started making whirly gigs for the yard and I use it to put into the bottom of the whirly gig so that I can insert it into a 1/2 black pipe. The pipe is driven into the ground. This way I can remove the whirly gig to repaint it or repair it when needed. The 1/4 inch size is perfect for this. What an old man that is retired will do to keep busy. Rod stock

I typically don't buy this type material at Lowe's because it is too expensive. But this day I was repairing a grill for a customer and only needed a small piece of rod stock. Lowe's was convenient and thereby saved me from having to drive back to the job the following day for a small repair. This material performed perfectly for my application.
