Ratings & Reviews for DuroMax HX 210cc Electric Start Camping and RV Ready 5500 Starting / 4500 Running Watt Gasoline, Liquid propane Dual fuel Portable Generator

Manual needs updating

In setting up the generator, there were numerous. errors in the manual that merited calls to Duromax. For instance, on page 61, which explains how to drain the oil, the manual states using a 12mm hex; it is in fact a 10mm hex. Also, the drain plug sits directly over a chassis crossbar; the oil drains onto the crossbar, which runs along the edge until it drips onto the floor. Designing the oil plug to be positioned away from the. crossbar would remedy this user-unfriendly result. Yet another inco...

Dual fuel is amazing

I bought it a month ago and was impressed about how user friendly it is and light weight.

Easy setup.

We recently bought our new generator because it's dual fuel and electric start. We chose to start it the first time with gas in the tank. It started up with no problem. We haven't put it to use yet but we are very happy with it so far. The instructions that came with it are very easy to understand and contain very clear pictures.

runs like a watch

i purchased this for our annual trip north worked out great on the new camper pretty easy on fuel also

Easy to use good on gas

Bought mine about 5 years ago power went out recently for 7 days straight generator fire right up ran refrigerator,tv,wi-fi and coffee maker.

Ran my Sister's House During Hurricane Helene

I installed an earlier version of this 5500W Dual Fuel Duromax at my sister's house a few years ago. During Hurricane Helene, she was without power for almost 2 weeks. She ran the generator 3-4 hours/day to keep the fridge cold and use her microwave for mid-day meal, and only used 2 20lb tanks of propane. Everyone should have one of these great generators!!

Great Tool

This is a great product. This is a great go to when the weather puts you in a bind.

Works well, starts easily.

The only complaint I have is that the handles do not line up with the locking pins.

Good Solid Generator

I bought this after the deep freeze in Texas and have had to use it a few times since. It's a very solid unit but I'd now prefer an inverter generator for my more sensitive electronics. Overall a very good generator, it starts every time.

Duromax 5500

This was given to me by a friend It starts and runs great on propane and gas I have it for 6months and haven’t needed it yet I run it every 2 weeks

Nice little portable generator

I purchased the Dual Fuel XP5500HX. Set up was easy and quick. I put non-ethanol gas with stabilizer in it, and charge the battery and it started on the first crank. I was impressed. I ran it on gas for a while, and then decided to see how well it would run on propane. When I switched it to propane it did not run for about two minutes. I then read through the manual and found on page 38 that this would happen. THIs definitely needs to be highlighted in the manual so owners know to expect this...

poor customer service

they never respond to Lowe's in regards to delivery or non-delivery

Good engine, bad auxiliary parts, 25% success rate

We buy quite a few Duromax 5 kW dual fuel generators. Up to 8 per month since 2020. The powerplant is good, but auxiliary systems suffer from severe quality control issues. Out of the box, we typically see: Minor issue rate - 50% (dead battery, plugged external propane regulator, GFCI outlet tripping constantly, missing axle hardware) Major issue rate - 25% (latent CO monitor / ignition harness connector failures, broken generator head leg, requiring replacement parts) We have not encounter...

Don't buy these types of items they don't back it!

Has trouble running on propane after following instructions to the letter. Absolutely no help from DuroMax or Lowes Pro. A 5 year warranty and no returns. stupid. don't buy it.

RL shippers were TERRIBLE

They delivered without setting up a day or time. They literally said they didn’t care. I wanted it delivered on Tuesday when someone would be there - it's been almost a month since it was ordered - they left it out in the open.

vendor is bogus they do not respond to Lowe's

don't buy these generators or anything on Lowe's website

5500 Dual Fuel Gens
