Great Hammer Drill Kit!

The Dewalt Drill arrived attached with the 5ah battery in the case and with the other battery you can tackle any project without worries of running out of juice anytime soon. The Hammer Drill has tons of torque and will drill through pretty much anything. It is a little heavy but of course that is expected with a drill with this much power. It has a great feel and light weight. I would definitely recommend this driver. It has been a great addition to my Dewalt collection.

A very powerful hammer drill in a compact size

Able to drill through concrete with ease. Can be use for screw driving as well. Only downside is the chuck will rust (the part where u hold to tighten the drill bit)

Worked until it didn’t.

Bought as part of a combo with an impact driver. This drill has been lightly used for drilling pocket holes and pilot holes in pine boards. Was drilling with a hole saw through a 2x4 today and it blew up inside. Unfortunately, I’m outside of he warranty period. The impact driver is still going strong. But disappointed in this one.

XR drilling power and battery life.

This thing had no problem driving a 1 1/4” auger through many 6x6s on a deck project. One 5 ah battery performs at least a solid days work. Smaller batteries give it same power with slightly lighter weight is good at times.

This one's a beast

Bought the DCD996 this winter to add hammer drill capability to my tool set. Overall, I'm very pleased with the drill. First time out, I used a 4" hole saw to cut through two layers of sheathing. I'm impressed with the power, runtime, and control this tool provides. Even with a 2 amp-hour battery attached, this drill delivers. My only quibble: the trigger is not as sensitive as the red-colored tools from "the good land".

I buy it again

I bought the hammer drill to do a couple hole saw projects on the house. I needed to drill through stucco in a couple places. Rather than hiring a handyman, I bought the XR. The batteries charged right up and we were off. I ended up deciding against using a hole saw and instead traced an outline of the fitting I wanted to insert into the wall and used the drill with a 3/8 inch concrete bit to perforate just the right sized holes. Dewalt is awesome, hard case is too small

I love my Dewalt tools. I had my last hammerdrill for years and it was time for a new one. This case is much thinner and more flimsy, has much less room in it than what I'm used too. What comes in this case is all you can get in it. In my old case there was enough room for an additional battery (3) all together, multiple drill bits, pencils, screws and few other small items. I cant put anything else in this new case at all.

Very Powerful Drill

I used this drill to hang up some tool organizers on my brick home. This drill performed exceptionally well. It drills all the holes I needed without skipping a beat. I also used this drill to hang a clock on my fireplace. This drill made that project a breeze.

Don't last

The work I use it for did not last more than a year. Very disappointing

DCD996 Hammer Drill

The Best all purpose, portable drill Built. I’ve used Dewalt tools for decades in mostly Electrical construction. If there was a better tool, I would have it. Time and Tools =$$ Thanks Dewalt. Ive made a good living.
