Head will strip out
Would Not RecommendI thought Hillman was a solid brand. Not this time. On composite deck repair with a few screws given to me by the builder, I had no problem. When I switched to the Hillman screws, 50% of them started stripping out. Will return them and look for a brand that has been properly heat treated.

Screw head too small.

Poor quality
Would Not RecommendNot sure why they changed suppliers as the Grip Rite screws were superior, but hey, they pay less and you pay more, it's the American way. The screws do not drive all the way into the joists due to the upper spiral not providing the proper force into the composite decking. they will simply strip the plastic and stick out of the deck. Good thing I saved some Grip Rite to use when these fail, which is often. The metal is also substandard and even with a Torx head the bit will strip the head on the...

Best deck screws!
Would RecommendHad a small project and realized I didn't have any screws so I picked these up. Includes a torx head driver (bonus). The fine-course combo helps to not overdrive the screw. The finish head didn't bulge or splinter. I'll use these from now on.
Trim head deck screws
Would RecommendNever used these becore5, but they are terrific for hiding the screws in cedar fence board. They just dissapear, for the most part. Epoxy coated too so hopefully no rust lines.
Star head deck screws
Would RecommendNice deck screws. Indo recommend getting spare T20 bits(we used the dewalt ones) and the bit wears every 10 boards or so installed. Otherwise, they look nice.

Would RecommendUsed these on a deck. Solid grip, tapped in easily. Smaller head allowed it to bury nicely. I wish I had found these screws earlier in my life. Highly recommend.
