Most effective screw for Trex

Perfect for installing Trex decking, self tapping works very well, an absolute necessity when driving a few hundred screws!

Awful

Stripped out 7 of the first 10 screws I used. Frustrating and difficult to remove once they are half driven in. Not sure how Lowes can continue carrying this product when the majority of the other reviews all offer the same complaint. Absolute worst product I have ever purchased from Lowes. I guess I should have read the other reviews,

Heads do not hold up

The head stripped and I couldn’t get the screws to go into the composite wood. I even tried different bits, but that did not help. Because it was the inside head of the screw that stripped out.

Received 30% of the boards decolored and scratched

Ordered boards to replaced an old deck and received decolored and heavily scratched boards. Not easy to return as 16ft board are not actually fitting in a suv or trailer to just go back to the store. Lowe's solution, per website, is to return the faulty product and order another board - of course I pay for shipping again and I have to manage the return - how convenient, right. Would not buy again.

Screws stripped out with bit that came with the screws 75 percent of the time, used another I had and worked ok but still lost about 20 percent of the screws.

these deck screws are a big time rip off. The FREE bit they give you doesn't fit correctly and the screws are so poorly made the bit strips the heads and they can not be reused. If you need 5 boxes you better buy 8 boxes. because that's how many more you'll need after they fail. Worst brand ever.

Not a good composite screw without pre drilling.

These screws are horrible. Tried only 3 so far, and could not get them in without starting to strip. Will try a couple more pre drilling, but definitely not good this far

Never used these before, no pre-drilling sounded good for composite decking, but, could not use a impact driver cause the heads strip out even with the provided bit, so I tried a drill driver, still if they slip even once, you better reverse and takem out and put in another screw, then they leave a big hole. If you stripped trying to take the screw out then you had to take the whole board off. I had to pre-drill still yet they stripped out the head if you got the least bit crooked, or hit a knot...

Would not penetrate the entire lenght.

They are amazing the way they cut the Trex and end up flush, color matching

Use T20 quality bit to avoid stripping

They come with T19 bit, which starts stripping after about 50. When used with high quality bit, stripping was only caused by off-angle application, so user error. I would recommend them as they are perfect for composite decking.

Poor quality

The heads strip out easily, and a lot of bad castings on the head that don’t allow the bit to seat in. Keep your vice grip close.

Inconsistent quality.

I bought 2 boxes of tan composite screws to start my project. I used an impact screw driver with a T20 bit. Many of the screws became stripped and I had to throw them away. I believed I was getting better at this because by the time I got to the 2nd box, I was no longer stripping the screws. But I had wasted so many from the first box that I bought another.
