Try the oil based. It gives a firmer texture.
Would Not RecommendGets clogged easily and doesn’t hold up when knocking it down. I think the water based one is not beneficial for getting a good orange peel look.

Too Heavy
Would Not RecommendI've used many different knockdowns in the past, this DAP knockdown has a heavy trigger, comes out real heavy making it hard to use this for texture repairs. Since all my texturing is repair work I have to throw this can out and buy another brand that doesn't dispense so heavy.

Absolute garbage
Would Not RecommendFollowed all instructions. It will only spray for a couple of seconds before needing to be shook more. Texture either comes out very sparse or in giant blobs that slowly slough off the wall. Dry time is very hard to judge and if you knockdown too early it will peel and give a hairy or torn texture.

Worth it for quick fixes.
Would RecommendWorks as it should as long as you have it warmed up under hot water for about ten min while shaking periodically. Otherwise you won’t get it all out and it’ll chunk on you. Once you get your own technique you’re good to go.

Did not like this product.
Would Not RecommendI had a 24 inch by 24 inch repair patch and it took three cans to do a cover this area. I followed the can directions and even practiced on a piece of card board. The cans ran out of pressure too fast and it look like the product was too thick for the amount of texture coming out, like the product was passed expiration date if that is possible. So make sure you buy extra for your repair patch.
