Best of the bunch.

I decided to leave a review because I really like this log splitter. In the 5 to 7 ton range, there are a lot of splitters out there, and this one is a little more expensive, but I chose it for several reasons. 1) It weighs about 25 to 30 pounds more than the other log splitters in this power range. Buyer Beware

I purchased a Boss electric 7-ton log splitter from Lowes. Still in the box, I did not use for 6 months. The first and only time I used the splitter, I was splitting Douglas fir, 10-inch rounds 18 inches long, that had seasoned over the spring and summer for eight months. I had split about 1-1/2 cords of wood. The two side bars broke and the center shaft bent. In researching the internet, I found this is a common problem. Small and lightweight but gets the job done.

I chose this product because it has single handed usage. The only thing I see wrong with the product is that in their instructions they tell you not to use it without all the warning stickers and then they put the stickers where the log ram wears them of within minutes of the first use.

As splitters go, this is a good one.

got the splitter today. we build fires regularly in the fall and winter so it's nice to have the freedom to decide the size of the wood. when you buy it from someone, you don't have that luxury. I only had one log that it wouldn't split but I knew I was pushing it so not a big deal. ot works great. I filled half of our wood holder in about an hour and a half. im sure ill get more efficient the more I use it.

Blew a hydraulic hydraulic line

Second day of use, less than 10 total run hours, it blew a hydraulic line while splitting South Texas Live Oak. Also, it won't split wood larger than about 6 or 7 inches in diameter, no where close to 10 inch diameter logs.

Huge improvement

This was a replacement unit for my 20 year old similar wood splitter. LOVE the single lever operation. Not by much, but the ramp moves a bit faster than my 20 year old one did. Compared to the old one the ram has ridges that bite into the wood piece holding it in place. Huge improvement

Worked great cut 2 chords of wood with no issues, good investment
