Perfect with the correct prep

I love this and have used it on quite a few projects. I think the trick to using it is to be sure you have the CORRECT blades for it. There are many many specialty blades for whatever you are cutting- most run about $5-$8.00. I have had no problems what so ever with cutting anything square.

Does the job, great response on order.

Could have used a compartment for blades built in and also could have included extra blades. But works great.

Won't cut straight for me either!

Unfortunately I had the same experience as the other reviewers. I tried to cut a straight line - using a clamped board as a guide - and couldn't get the thing to cut straight. The blade wonders quite a bit. The dust port hooked up to my shop vac also seemed to be pretty worthless. ALSO, on the right side the cut side is 1 1/2" from the edge and on the left side its 1 5/16". Pretty annoying when trying to cut both directions along a guide/board. Don't cut straight

just like the other review say blade in the bending sideways little bit in you get a cut with an angle seems harder to keep straight when it starts to angle on you some type of defect when they designed it because most of all the Black

Worked Great

I saw the bad reviews but took a chance knowing I could return it. It cut thru my treated 2 x 6's to make corbels with no troubles at all. Great price!

Works well (when used properly; speed, blade, etc)

I was apprehensive when I saw the less than stellar reviews but I needed something to cut 1/2" bamboo flooring (which is 2x harder than oak). When using the correct blade and speed for the application, the cuts are perfectly serviceable. Keep in mind that it only comes with a high-speed wood blade meant to rip (cut with the grain). This is not meant to take the place of a circular saw, radial arm saw, table saw, band saw, etc., but a complimentary tool for down and dirty tight cuts. The trigg...

Won’t Cut Straight

Nice features at a great price, but as others said it won’t cut straight. I clamped a 1x4 to the left side of a 1” board I was sawing. I used the blade that came with the saw and put the left side of the saw shoe against the 1x4 for a straight guide. The blade drifted left 3/16” after cutting only 2.5" distance. So sad. I really wanted to keep this saw.

not a straight cut

Just like Eric and Will said, I experienced the same problem - diagonal cut. While cutting 3/4 plywood and 1-in plywood the saw does not make a straight cut, rather the blade cuts "beveled" at about 10-15 degrees. I tried changing blades, cutting real slow, applying more/less pressure..you name it. I was unable to get a straight cut. I'm disappointed with the jigsaw.

DIAGONAL BEND ON 1" THICK WOOD

should've read the latest report. Blade would leave diagonal bend on 1" thick wood. Returning it back to the store and getting a band-saw.

Won't cut square

I tried to use this to cut through a 1" plank of wood. No matter how slowly I moved the saw, the blade wouldn't stay vertical--after cutting a couple of inches into the wood it was quite a bit off of vertical. I'm returning this to the store.

Love this saw for the price was will worth it. Cut throw a 2 x 6 like butter and the same with 4 x 4 post..

So far so good.

I was hesitant to buy Black and Decker, but decided to give the another try. Seems to be build solid and operated smoothly. I've only used if for one project. It zipped right through a 1.5" board. Now we shall see if it stand the test of time.

Very nice jigsaw for beginners

I recently needed to repair a bathroom cabinet\sink floor. I needed to cut some wood and didn't have anything to cut it with. I bought this jigsaw and was nervous at first because I have never used a jigsaw before. This jigsaw made the job real easy. I didn't have any trouble cutting my board and a 2x2. I have all black and decker power tools and will say they build good tools.
