The Black + Decker 5 Amp Electric Jig Saw with Curve Control is an excellent saw, with a few limitations. The variable speed trigger is proportional and will slow the blade stroke down to a crawl. The dust blower works well - especially at higher blade speeds - and will send chips flying away from the cut line, bouncing off the workpiece, and dropping onto the ground. Not durable. Not accurate
I bought this 2 years ago to cut wood trim while siding the house. Tighten the footplate all you want, it will still lean with pressure. It's grinding inside the housing indicating that the brushes are likely shot. I'll go with another brand for sure when this finally is rendered useless.

Its not brushless and sparks shoot well out of the motor housing when you let off the trigger. I was using it and the roller guide that keeps the blade in place came off. No replacement parts can be ordered
Great for small jobs
Got this to work on trim for a pass-through window. Was a perfect fit. Just what I needed

Not as smooth driving as some of the more expensive brands, but it is plenty smooth enough for your average everyday projects. Considering the cost of this saw, ill give it a A+ rating. If it still works in a fee years it will be my go to jigsaw.
I have no idea why this rates so high
I bought this on the strength of all the positive reviews. I don't know, maybe people just wanted something pretty to look at? The wonderful adjustable shoe is a real pain as there's no way to tighten it enough to keep it in place for an extended amount of time. The bolt holding it backs out, the shoe starts moving, and I have to stop, put it back, and tighten it again. And now, only three years or so in, and I need an new blade clamp! What?
