Ratings & Reviews for Backyard Discovery Sarasota 20-ft W x 10-ft L x 8-ft 2-in H Black Metal Freestanding Pergola with Canopy

AZ Shady Oasis

20 x 10 Set up ready to use, love this product. All parts numbered and screws identified. Needed more people than two or three and took us two days to complete. Love the looks and value for my money.

Can NOT withstand high winds as advertised

The pergola was easy enough to assemble with clear instructions. Took 2 days to complete with 2 people. It does look very sleek and provides sufficient shade. But after having for a year, we’ve quickly realized the claim that it can withstand “100 mph winds” is simply not true at all. We’ve have two separate instances in our area where we’ve had 45-50 mph winds and it took no time for the pergola to shift and lean over. We now have to support this pergola with two pieces of wood so it stands up ...

Love the Sarasota Steel Louvered Pergola

We absolutely love our Sarasota pergola! The sleek black steel design looks amazing in our backyard and really elevates the whole space. The adjustable louvers are a game-changer — whether it’s full sun, partial shade, or closing them up during a rain shower, we can control it with ease. It feels extremely sturdy, and we’ve already hosted family cookouts and gatherings under it with plenty of space. Assembly took some time but was very straightforward with clear instructions. If you want a moder...

Beautiful and sturdy

Outstanding product. Easy to put together and sturdy. Just wished it was a bit wider. But overall extremely happy with our pergola and will purchase another one.

Highly recommend (would purchase again)

The 20x10 Sarasota Steel Louvered Pergola has been an outstanding addition to our backyard. Solid, sturdy, and sleek in appearance, it came with exceptionally detailed instructions and a helpful video that made assembly far easier. Yes, there are plenty of steps (and parts), but don’t let that intimidate you—everything is clearly labeled, and the directions are thoughtfully laid out. We’d absolutely purchase it again. Highly recommend.

Good looking unit

Just got it set up. It looks awesome. Need to give it some time to see how well it holds up

It’s OK

Iv had it now for over 6 months. It’s great besides it settled in the middle a little and the water overflows when it rains.

Enjoyed working with this co

The company has been very good to work with, we got a little messed up with our delivery. We are excited anot our Pargula but we can set it up because we’re waiting for someone to put ou slab..

Look for something else

Giving 2 stars mostly because customer service was responsive, but the Pergola itself is flawed. We installed in Summer of 2024 and were extremely impressed with the quality and ease of install. Everything was fine until after the winter months. I'm not sure if these don't handle snow load like they claim to or the quality is just not there but fast forward 10/11 months the Perolga is leaking and louvers are sagging, so much so that some have a small crack you can even see light trough. When it ...

Louvered makes a big difference

I got this a few weeks ago and it’s great. I can’t wait to hang my strip lights to make it even better. It’s nice because I can have a bonfire and just open the top

Happy Customer

Bought this a month ago to finish our newly remodeled backyard and so far very pleased. It looks clean and seems well built, and was relatively straightforward to assemble. I would recommend this to family and friends in the future.

Easy set up!

The set up was easy, just took a few hours. Make sure to wear gloves if you're setting this up in the sun - the Metal gets HOTT! You'll need at least two persons, maybe a third to be the runner for you while installing the long slats. We've had so many compliments on this, it's a nice pergola!

When CAD merges with instructions, magic happens.

Very helpful. Great job.

Easy assembly and looks great!

I bought this Pergola approximately a month ago and last weekend assembled and put it up in a day and a half with a little bit of help when standing upright. Well made and easy to follow directions with assembly! Looks great and is a great addition to our backyard!

Sarasota 10 X12

Beautiful. My friends put this together with no problem. There were no screws included to secure the pergola but otherwise they put it with no problem. Virtual customer was great. They were very patient while I asked various questions to make sure this was a good fit for us prior to purchase

Beautiful and sturdy pergola

We just got it put together and it is perfect. Excellent quality!! We looked at several brands and decided on this one.

Love them so much, we bought 5 of them!

We bought 5 - 20x10 Sarasota Steel Louvered Pergolas and put them up on our beer garden patio. The first one took us just over two days to assemble, but we became experts and erected the next four in under two days total. We had one faulty part and Backyard Discovery overnighted the part to us and we were able to complete the project the next day. They even followed up with us on how things were going. Quality is top notch and the service response was even better.

Very cool pergola

Make sure you have enough people to help put it up.
