Disappointed

We purchased the 16 x 10 ft pergola, and its beautiful, but the gutters do not drain properly. The beams on the 16 ft run sag just enough in the middle and the water just pools and spills over when it rains. I contacted Backyard Discovery and they confirmed this is a known design flaw for the 16 ft and 18 ft pergolas as they lack any support in the center. They provided some shims and suggested retightening the beams to see if it would help, but after 3 hours of troubleshooting, nothing worked. ...

10' x 20' Pergola

I purchased this pergola and the installation. It was installed in June 2026. I am very happy with the pergola. It's providing protection and privacy in my very small, open back yard. I needed something that will withstand high winds along with lots of snow. Walter and his son installed the pergola, and they did a great job. I've only had the pergola a short time, but I feel this will be one of my best decisions regarding my home.

18x10 perfect fitment

Very nice product. Install wasn’t too bad. I did it by myself in a day. I should have had a second set of hands to raise the beams but I made it work. Quality is nice. So far so good. No wind or major storms, I angled the louvers in direction of the winds so it doesn’t catch and pull.

Backyard upgrade

it is a sturdy, aesthetically pleasing addition to our backyard entertaining space. i particularly like the louvered feature which makes the product much more versatile.

The best pergola and/or gazebo I’ve ever put up with my son! Installed on 5/30/26, only took 4 hours with 2 people! Very heavy duty, I would change anything about it. My only criticism would be for you to add at the beginning of the instructions “determine where you want the louver mechanism” so they can determine where to start with the first post. Flawed gutter design

The whole point in buying a louvered pergola was to keep things mostly dry. We set it up (8x16') meticulously, yet the main gutter (16' side) sags in the middle, and water backs up and pours over the inside gutter edge. Eerything 4' in from front drenched. Even a slow, straight down rain. Bummed.

Stands up to wind

I live in the Midwest and we get frequent wind storms in the spring, so I was looking for a pergola that can stand a high wind and snow load. Since putting this up almost every day we’ve had 20mph wind with gusts around 40mph. I’ve seen no movement or rattling during these windy days. Backyard Pergola

I completed this by myself. I used 6 lifetime picnic tables to build and slide around as I manueverd the pieces with ease. It toom me about 15 hours in total. It would have been nice to explain the tools added that were available for use.

Can NOT withstand high winds as advertised

The pergola was easy enough to assemble with clear instructions. Took 2 days to complete with 2 people. It does look very sleek and provides sufficient shade. But after having for a year, we’ve quickly realized the claim that it can withstand “100 mph winds” is simply not true at all. We’ve have two separate instances in our area where we’ve had 45-50 mph winds and it took no time for the pergola to shift and lean over.
