Would Not RecommendTurns on but not off. Apparently this is made for an exterior lamppost not a porch light. If the lamp is under a cover (porch roof) the daylight is not sufficient to activate the photo sensor that is deep inside the socket. Another disadvantage is you must press a button to set the device to operate dusk to dawn. My lamp has a glass enclosure that make access to the button extremely difficult.
FUBAR daylight sensing
Would Not RecommendAfter numerous attempts to use the dusk to dawn feature, no joy was to be had. Maybe the timer works, but, I don't need that. I bought 5 of these and will try them all. Too bad. It seemed like such a great idea to eliminate manual operation and having to add sensors on stalks to save a few bucks.

This item was purchased under Utilitech, not Amertac. The instructions say to press the random button to program the socket to deter intruders. There is no “random” button on this socket

Sensor did not work for Christmas lights
Would Not RecommendMy intention was to use the screw-in light sensor to turn my outdoor Christmas lights on and off. I had two strings of 25 (C9's). I wanted to use the dusk plus 5 hour setting (2 flashes). Only the dusk to dawn setting worked (4 flashes). The sensor burned out totally before the season was over and I ended up throwing the sensor away.
