Would RecommendI got my Whirlpool Water Softener about 12 years ago. The manual "recommended" to add one bottle of the cleaner every 4 months -- which I have. All I know is that the softener has worked flawlessly since installation. I don't use "similar products". I use the Whirlpool brand. Maybe it really doesn't do anything, but I am not chancing it. BUT I am VERY happy with both the product and the Whirlpool softener.
