The paint offers good coverage and a nice finish, but some users experienced issues with inconsistent color, poor application, and a chalky or thin consistency. The overall experience may vary, so it's recommended to test the product on a small area before use.

Would RecommendI had several pieces of furniture and kitchen cabinets that I painted. I found when I started the kitchen cabinets, the first color I selected had a green (vs. gray undertone) so I decided to switch the color. Rather than add the antique wax, I finished with Annie Sloan's Black Wax - key factor : apply clear wax first, then apply colored wax so it will lift. I've added photos of kitchen cabinets and an old dining table - great shape and solid construction, but had lots of wear and tear. The t...

A good substitute
Would RecommendI love chalk paint for the ease and coverage. The Valspar chalk paint had good coverage. Plus it was thick and chalky like it's supposed to be. I would use it again. But it's expensive.

Zero Coverage
Would Not RecommendMaybe I did something wrong, if so please let me know; however, this product looked like extremely watered-down white paint. As seen in the photos, instead of bright white like I was expecting, it just looks dusty. On the bright side, it dried extremely fast, which made applying these 3 coats take about 2.5 hours. I used the entire quart, and I don't really want to buy another one given the price. Unless I did something wrong, I'll probably buy a qt. of regular white interior paint and a satin t...

Basically regular paint
Would Not RecommendI was using a different, real chalk paint and ran out. Had to use this for the last coat and it did not come close to being as good as the other brand I was using. Doesn't cover well and takes a long time to dry. Chalk paint is supposed to dry in minutes, not hours. The color wasn't good either

Great paint!
Would RecommendThis was my first project using chalk paint. There was a bit a a learning curve to use but definitely worth the effort. For me I found that really spreading the out the paint to make thin even coats worked best. I also made sure to let dry for a day between coats. To finish off I used the Valspar sealing wax and antiquing wax, which I also let dry for a day between coats. Very pleased with the results!

Loved it
Would RecommendI was intimidated by the thought of painting furniture. I bought the paint and a week later worked up the nerve to paint. This was easy and quick. Definitely will be painting more furniture. I used two coats. I was surprised how far one can went. I painted a dresser two night stands and I have 1/3 of the can left.

First Time User
Would RecommendI'd never used chalk paint before and, after reading some of the reviews here, I was a little concerned. But I'd already bought it and decided to give it a try. The first coat went on easily and I waited 24 hours before putting on a second. Some paint did come off -- it needed longer. So I finished that one, waited 48 hours. I decided to give it a third coat, just for good measure. I waited 3 days just to give it plenty of time to cure. Then gave two coats of dealing wax 24 hours apart. The f...

Color Different Sample
Would RecommendI bought this paint a while ago waited a bit and used it on a piece of furniture, the color "Woolen Stockings" is really a dull battleship grey and I regret the choice. I actually left the piece at my old apt when I moved! Is there a way to tinker with color ourselves? Valspar is this possible- as I still have over 1/2 can of paint.

Issues with paint
Would Not RecommendI have used different brands of chalk paint and thought I would give this a try. I read previous reviews and several said that there were little bubbles of paint on the wood. I found this also to be true. I was very slow and presicise with my brush stokes and kept the bubbles to a min ( I figured a very light sanding with 320 grit when I was done would clean it up). The paint is very think and I did lightly stir a few times ( trying to keep the bubbles to a min). My project need 2 coats and it l...

Awesome paint!!!
Would RecommendI tried a different brand of chalk paint & it did not work well. So l paid the extra $ & got a qt of chalky finish paint. Two coats is all l needed. No streaking or weird residues like the other kind of paint l used! I used red chalk paint for the piece of office furniture & black chalk paint for a couple of walls in the office. Both applied without a glitch. Smooth & just the right thickness (but not too thick). Wonderful!

exceeded expectations
Would RecommendThis was my first venture into painting a piece of furniture and the transformation did not disappoint. This paint was so easy to work with. No streaking. I probably could have done just one coat, but did 2 to cover up some missed spots on the first go round. It turned out so well. Very happy!

Disappointed
Would Not RecommendI have used Annie Sloan chalk paint many times and have always been satisfied with it. I thought I was saving some time and cash by purchasing this paint instead. This was a mistake. After three coats of this paint on an antique China cabinet, 100 year old embedded stain continues to bleed through. The old finish had been removed years ago. Annie Sloan paint covers anything with two coats. I will need to use more than a quart on a single piece of furniture and probably will need to Binz the ent...

Great- but be patient
Would RecommendI did all of my kitchen cabinets with this paint and used the sealing wax. The color was slightly darker than I imagined (beaded recticule), but it still looks great. I used a liquid defosser/sander as my prep, and I applied two coats of paint and one of wax. Use thin layers, as it gives better cover gave in the end. No attacking or cracking. Two quarts covered 32 cabinet doors, front and back, as well is the outer parts of the main cabinet (two coats). I did not do the inside of my cabinets. B...

Don’t waste your coins!
Would Not RecommendI researched how to do this project for days before making a decision. I searched high & low for the Annie Sloan chalk paint. I could not find it. But since I had been purchasing Valspar paint for my walls, I figured I couldn’t go wrong. Well guess what? The boot strap black is horrible. It was not better than the charcoal chalk paint I bought first. All because Annie was not available locally. The finish was matte of course but dried more of a gray color than blackish. Then the clear wax super ...

Great Product
Would RecommendI have used this product on several projects and I love it( kitchen cabinets, book shelf, coffee table, chairs) its easy, I didn't sand only clean furniture from dust. I had to give several coats like 3 to get a good result. used a roll on then a brush to create streaks. 2 coats of wax and some antique wax on crevasses and it looks awesome.

Great quality product!
Would RecommendI love this paint! The finish is absolutely beautiful. My advice to anyone using this product make sure you paint a small section to test it first if your unsure of coverage, and finish. I like using this paint on unfinished wood, and small painting projects. The colors are true to the samples of paint you can buy. I always buy small samples first to make sure it's exactly the color I want. Easy to wipe, and very durable!

Yes it cracks
Would Not RecommendPrepared an old buffet with a coat of (new) shellac. Two coats of paint applied in a basement (not in heat at all). Cracks are obvious on all surfaces. Not really what I was expecting.
