What Customers Are Saying
The paint offers good coverage and a nice finish, but some users experienced issues with inconsistent color, poor application, and a chalky or thin consistency. The overall experience may vary, so it's recommended to test the product on a small area before use.

I had several pieces of furniture and kitchen cabinets that I painted. I found when I started the kitchen cabinets, the first color I selected had a green (vs. gray undertone) so I decided to switch the color. Rather than add the antique wax, I finished with Annie Sloan's Black Wax - key factor : apply clear wax first, then apply colored wax so it will lift. I've added photos of kitchen cabinets and an old dining table - great shape and solid construction, but had lots of wear and tear. The t...

A good substitute
I love chalk paint for the ease and coverage. The Valspar chalk paint had good coverage. Plus it was thick and chalky like it's supposed to be. I would use it again. But it's expensive.

Zero Coverage
Maybe I did something wrong, if so please let me know; however, this product looked like extremely watered-down white paint. As seen in the photos, instead of bright white like I was expecting, it just looks dusty. On the bright side, it dried extremely fast, which made applying these 3 coats take about 2.5 hours. I used the entire quart, and I don't really want to buy another one given the price. Unless I did something wrong, I'll probably buy a qt. of regular white interior paint and a satin t...

Basically regular paint
I was using a different, real chalk paint and ran out. Had to use this for the last coat and it did not come close to being as good as the other brand I was using. Doesn't cover well and takes a long time to dry. Chalk paint is supposed to dry in minutes, not hours. The color wasn't good either

Great paint!
This was my first project using chalk paint. There was a bit a a learning curve to use but definitely worth the effort. For me I found that really spreading the out the paint to make thin even coats worked best. I also made sure to let dry for a day between coats. To finish off I used the Valspar sealing wax and antiquing wax, which I also let dry for a day between coats. Very pleased with the results!

Loved it
I was intimidated by the thought of painting furniture. I bought the paint and a week later worked up the nerve to paint. This was easy and quick. Definitely will be painting more furniture. I used two coats. I was surprised how far one can went. I painted a dresser two night stands and I have 1/3 of the can left.

First Time User
I'd never used chalk paint before and, after reading some of the reviews here, I was a little concerned. But I'd already bought it and decided to give it a try. The first coat went on easily and I waited 24 hours before putting on a second. Some paint did come off -- it needed longer. So I finished that one, waited 48 hours. I decided to give it a third coat, just for good measure. I waited 3 days just to give it plenty of time to cure. Then gave two coats of dealing wax 24 hours apart. The f...

Color Different Sample
I bought this paint a while ago waited a bit and used it on a piece of furniture, the color "Woolen Stockings" is really a dull battleship grey and I regret the choice. I actually left the piece at my old apt when I moved! Is there a way to tinker with color ourselves? Valspar is this possible- as I still have over 1/2 can of paint.

Issues with paint
I have used different brands of chalk paint and thought I would give this a try. I read previous reviews and several said that there were little bubbles of paint on the wood. I found this also to be true. I was very slow and presicise with my brush stokes and kept the bubbles to a min ( I figured a very light sanding with 320 grit when I was done would clean it up). The paint is very think and I did lightly stir a few times ( trying to keep the bubbles to a min). My project need 2 coats and it l...

Awesome paint!!!
I tried a different brand of chalk paint & it did not work well. So l paid the extra $ & got a qt of chalky finish paint. Two coats is all l needed. No streaking or weird residues like the other kind of paint l used! I used red chalk paint for the piece of office furniture & black chalk paint for a couple of walls in the office. Both applied without a glitch. Smooth & just the right thickness (but not too thick). Wonderful!
