This primer is MAGIC!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was repairing old plaster walls after removing wallpaper in an 1890's Victorian. After using the Bonding Primer, the walls were amazingly improved and ready for paint. We used Valspar Reserve and it looks professionally done. HUGE improvement!

Great product!

I used this when I painted my kitchen cabinets. After18 months it is still holding strong! No chipped paint and our household is very hard on them.

OMG Do not buy this

We applied to tile of which it says it will work. Followed instructions and it’s peeling right off before we even apply top coat. BBB should be called cause this is a misrepresentation of what it supposed to do.

Thick and useless

The bonding agent was way to thick, about the constistancy of mayo. It says its a stain blocker. Didn't work at all, blead thru. Its going back to the store!

Lowes Couldn't Tint This Primer

I went to two Lowes and was told they wouldn't be able to tint it in any color. I originally wanted a Sherwin Williams color and was told no. Then I chose the closest color in Valspar and still was told no. The system did not register this primer as something that could be tinted although the can says "tintable". Excellent primer!

We repainted some old cupboards that had a dark stain from the 70s. We first put this on as a base coat. When it driedd i gave it a scratch test wirh my fingernail. It was veey strong and veey scratch resistant unlike the other cheap primers. We then topped this with a high quality cabinet enamel. The whole cabinets and cupbaords looked brand new and the coating was extremely durable. This stuff rocks.

Valspar Interior/Exterior Bonding Water-Based Wall

This produced has performed great for me so far. I used it for primer on my cabinets. I will say it is very thick. I sprayed it on and had great results. I did however by a larger tip size for my spray gun.

Excellent Bonding Primer

Glad I selected this bonding primer to paint latex over an old oil based painted surface- This bonding primer really helps the latex paint to adhere to the surface. Without the bonding primer the latex paint would peel off the old oil based paint. valspar not as good as i thought

after 2 coats of primer 2 top coats couple days later here comes bleed thru i used probably 1/2 gallon on a 5 ft x16 ft fence so i used a lot of primer on the small section what a waste of my time and money have to redo it

Worked to prep oak cabinets for paint

Painting cabinets and used this.takes several coats for good base but painting bright white and didnt want bleed through

Not Stain blocking

Every Lowe's employee raved about this product. I used it as a primer for my kitchen cabinets which were originally wood. I could see areas on the cabinets that almost looked as if they were moldy. This resulted in additional coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. Very time-consuming!!

Super hiding power and bonding properties

used it on my kitchen cabinets before painting with valspar cabinet paint. could not be happier with the results. produces a very hard durable base for cabinet paint.

Furniture repurpose/painting

I refurbish (paint) old stained furniture. I tried others and tried this on a suggestion.. I love it.. I generally use two coats so I get total coverage but I’m doing furniture, a gallon will last a long time..

Excellent all-purpose primer

Having purchased a "good bones" fixer-upper, I've used about 80 gallons of paint overall in the past 2 years. This primer has become my go-to for all priming. I especially like the thick consistency, which reminds me of wallpaper paste. It fills small cracks and voids and is far less prone to dripping than most primers, leaving a nice smooth surface for the top coat. Wish I'd discovered it earlier in my painting project.

This product is thick and went on (sanded) kitchen cabinet doors best with sponge type brush for me. Adhered well & is making paint go on & adhere well also!

Amazing product

This is a miracle product for painting over varnished wood! One coat and easily covered with white semi gloss paint! So thrilled with my results.
