The coating itself is great but the spray cap or the propellant causes the product to spit and splatter. Very annoying and of course super frustrating after spending time prepping the surface to perfection to have the dang spray bomb puking & spitting chunks. And not just a few but every dang one does it and some are horrendous. Only writing a review to help you guys sort this problem out.

Valspar clear sprays

I have had 3 now that just stop spraying after not much use, I think it is something to do with the safety system on lid.

It's decent

On coverage I give it 7 out of 10. Had to make a few too many passes. Drying time 5/10. There are other spray paints out there that take longer to dry than this one. And some, dry faster for about the same price. Oh BTW your red colors are fantastically vibrant. Good job. 10/10 on the color itself. I found this to be true with Valspar interior paints, too.

My poor finger!

I usually use a different brand & decided to try Valspar. When I got home, I realized the "Special" spray nozzle would not work with the clip-on trigger handle I use on regular spray cans. The paint went on fine, but my finger started hurting halfway through the can. Did anyone test this type of sprayer for more than a few seconds? I will never buy a spray can with this type of nozzle again!

Does this stuff ever dry?

I won't use this paint again. I spent a lot of valuable time to strip, sand, prime (with Valspar primer) and paint the highchair my wife used as a child for our 2 year old. It came out looking great, but after 4 days of curing (and dry to the touch), the finish was ruined when my son sat in it for the first time. I should have read the other reviews before using this paint. I've used other brands of spray enamel on a number of projects and I have NEVER experienced spray paint that refused to dry...

The WORST paint

Valspar paint is the worst paint I have ever used. I will NEVER touch another Valspar product for the rest of my life, even if somebody offered it to me free. Sprays DOTS of paint, impossible to use after 5 or 10 sprays. Drips like MAD. But, if you want to waste time, money and ruin your project - Valspar paint is the paint for you!

I bought this in clear satin to spray over my canvases... It's simple to use, and sprays very, very even.... but I'd like a little more info. 1) Can it be sprayed over dried, acrylic paints? Over chalk to seal? Also, is it 'oil based'?

Good finish, slow drying

The can says to wait five minutes before applying a second coat. After doing so, I found out that this can cause excessively long drying times (as in several days before completely cured). The finish is slightly improved from traditional rattle can paint, but that doesn't really matter if you have to wait days for it to dry.

SLOW drying time

Used this paint on kid's pinewood derby cars; colors are good, but the drying time is horrible. It's been a day and it still tacky. I see someone else here had that problem and it was suggested that they call in for some suggestions to accelrate the drying, well, I did that and the response was to give it more time. 4 days until I have to have these cars finished for the kids and I'm stuck with the decision to strip and start over with another product.

Applies smooth, dries slo

This paint goes on more even than other sprays, by far. I love that about it. The color is also excellent. But it dries too slowly. The can clearly reads: "Recoat any time." This may be, but it fails to say is if you apply several coats within an hour that it can then take days to dry, which is unacceptable. I would suggest a more informative label that either suggests waiting between coats or points out the downside to applying multiple coats within a short time period. I did two LIGHT coats an...

The BEST!

I have my own repurposing & refinishing primitive craft business. I have used different spray paints and have found Valspar to be the BEST. I never use any other spray paint now that I have found Valspar. Valspar has the best coverage. The choice of colors is by far the greatest. This girl will NEVER use anything but Valspar paints.

Easey Peasy Spray

I used this to redo my bathroom etagere - it was so easy, went on smooth, and has great coverage. It only took one coat, no dripping or mess!! - love it!

Color of love

I love the colors valspar has to offer because they are so bold and rich in color . The valspar emamel spray paint is great for all types of projects and it's my number one paint & spray paint for projects . Also the outdoor kind is really good too , the paint last a long time which is good for all your summer projects!

Easy touch ups!

Excellent product for my needs! Allowed me to come back and continue my project when I was available, not the usual several day wait time for touch ups. Paint dried quickly and evenly. I am so pleased with the results! Nice can design, too.

Only Valspar

We only use Valspar clear spray sealer on our wood craft pieces. We have tried others but they leave a cloudy sheen. They aren't clear like Valspar.

Very Good

I bought this spray paint to help paint some plastic headphones. Didn't work out the best for my design but actually stayed on surprisingly well! The smell persisted for a while after I had applied the paint, it was the only minor thing that wasn't perfect. Thank you for the awesome paint!

DOES NOT COVER

Terrible coverage! 17 sq. ft. not 35 Sq. ft as stated on the can! I bought the palomino orange. Nice color but would be nice to have it in a gloss or satin.

These folks really care

I was a bit unhappy with the results of a job with spray cans. I called and Andrea, the rep I talked to was so very nice and understanding. She asked enough questions to understand what I did and then came up with a more than satisfactory solution. Val Spar really wants its' customers to be satisfied _ I am more than happy, I will buy more Val Spar in the future

safety

I love the product but not sure about spraying it on children's toys, Is it non-toxic after drying? It is a little harder to depress the can nozzle than others I have used.
