Universal

I am unfamiliar with electric water heaters. One of the wires shorted out on my thermostat. I assumed that replacing it was going to be a hassle, trying to find the right make and model to go with mine. I was surprised to find out these are pretty much universal. I made my purchase, got back home, removed the old one, and 4 screws later I had the new one installed and my hot water back on. Watch a video and be sure to cut off the electricity.

Perfect fix for a terrible morning. It's no often that you can go from no hot water, none, to unlimited supply of hot water in 4 hours and while simultaneously spending less than $30.00.

Replacement water heater thermostat

So easy and inexpensive to replace a worn out thermostat. Works like new!

Good, durable, does the job

Needed a thermostat immediately, found this at Lowe's for a reasonable price and popped it in... does the job well, seems durable and continues to work well.

exact substitute

This is indeed the right substitute to use in an AO Smith 2 element water heater.

Emergency substitute

it is a substitute and not quite physically reached by the lower element wire. I extended the wire and it works, so it is good enough for an emergency.

Worked perfect

I had no idea what I really needed to fix my water heater, but was told a lower thermostat. This was easy to figure out and easy to install now I have hot water again!

Hot water heater thermostat

My hot water heater thermostat shorted and I found the correct replacement at Lowes. Easy change out but unfortunately it took out an element also. Found that replacement at Lowes too.

Doesn't work well with AO Smith

This product is compatible with AO Smith only if you mean it will monitor the temp of the water. The unit does not fit properly on the AO Smith; one wire is too short to reach the connector that is placed higher on this unit, the plastic guard will not connect properly, and the reset and temperature knob do not line up with the holes on the plastic guard. I plan to make due with this unit only until the proper unit arrives. Disappointed.
