Very frustrating to use!

Purchased one year ago. Worked ok the first couple of weeks. Since then, it will not reel the hose unless I lift the hose off the ground to feed it into the reel AND manually nudge the wheel to get it moving. For the price Suncast charges, I would expect them to at least install metal wheel bearings instead of the plastic parts. The concept of the product is good but it is not worth the expense when the quality is so poor!

Worked for awhile until the automatic lever broke

We bought this automatic hose retractor because both of us are physically challenged. It has worked for almost two years and recently, the lever than retracts the hose broke. So now we are stuck with hose storage, where we can't retract the hose. I am not pleased, because we paid good money for crap. I am not sure where the receipts for this are, or if Lowe's will take this product back for a refund.

Extremely sluggish

Does not operate as advertised. You have to push hose along in order to get it to retract.

Terrible; cheaply made; fails often

We purchased this and should have immediately returned it, but it's such a pain to take something like this back--we were fools. It constantly jammed, with the feeder at the bottom rarely quite working right. Eventually it stopped working altogether. Beautiful concept--failed execution.

Nice but not sturdy

The idea is great! Made out of plastic gears that attach to side wall. Gears break away from sidewall. Had this unit for one year before it broke. I wish they made a sturdier version of this!

Don’t work!

Bought this several years ago and from day one it didn’t work just right. Now it is very very very difficult to pull the hose out of it. Going back is ok.

Didn’t last a year!

I bought this less than a year ago. It’s not used a lot. The rewind function works but you can’t pull the hose out. You have to manually turn the wheel then pull the slack out. This is 3rd one I’ve owned. The others lasted many years. Guess they’re made cheaper than they used to be. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!

Works great

I don’t understand all the bad reviews. I’ve had mine for over 30 years and it worked flawlessly. Yes it is heavy but that should be understood. Personally I was looking to buy another one of these and I am unable to find one. I definitely would recommend it.

Love it!

I’m in love with this self-winding hose reel! Currently looking for a second one. Works quite well, on year two, no issues. I’m in Dallas, TX & this has handled to 100+ days and -5 days too. I’m disabled and over 50, so not having to mess with cranking up the hose, is a huge help. Water is expressed out a hose when rewinding & its a nice help to water trees nearby.

I want another one!

I have had my Aquawinder for at least five years. I love it! It stays out all year in our mild coastal So Cal climate. It still works perfectly and does not leak. Care should be taken to lay the hose out straight before flipping the rewind lever. And unreeling works better if you pull the hose straight out all the way. I did have to put a couple of bricks in front of it to help it stay put when unreeling because mine is on pavement and I am unable to stake it down. NO WATER IS WASTED! Just ...

Cheap plastic gears slip, strip and separate.

Strains to pull a hose in. You have to help it along. You will be lucky to get a year of use before the gears fail.

Worthless

Do not purchase. Waste of money. The guide reel broke one of the first times it was used.

Suncast Auto-retract hose reel

This is the second I have owned, the first is going on maybe 10 years. This one is smoother running, and nicer looking. I have had to repair my first, but the parts were easy to find. Pickup at store was painless, Lowes does a good job.

Water Winder

I bought one of the Suncast hose reels a while ago and it has worked great - the water pressure wind up works! So, after my other hose reels weathered and broke I bought three more at a good price from Lowes. Two worked great after assembly, one wouldn't wind up - so I took that back with no problem from Lowes. Bought a replacement and it works great. Works as intended - came scratched

The hose reel works just fine, but it was shipped in a box that was too small with no cushioning. So it arrived scratched up on the top.

Worthless!

I dutifully and carefully installed my 5/8 garden hose (only 100 feet) and even bought a separate, longer hose for the inlet due to the location of my faucet. I pulled it out the first time, and rewound it with no problem. Second time - no problems. The THIRD time I went to actually use the hose, it would not pull out; the gears were locked up completely.
