What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the ash shovel for its sturdy, heavy-duty construction and exceptional value. Most highlight the thicker metal and reinforced design as significantly more durable than previous models, with many noting it won't bend under heat and lasts for years. Reviewers consistently celebrate the price-to-quality ratio, calling it a real bargain that delivers exactly what's needed without unnecessary features. The compact scoop design fits easily between grate legs and handles both hot and cold ashes effectively. Some mention the handle is too short for deeper fireplaces, and a few report minor paint peeling with hot ashes, but these are viewed as minor trade-offs for the durability and affordability most customers value.

Simple Cost Effective Choice for Fireplace Tools
Would RecommendWe looked at all the sets offered and it came down to just needing a poker and ash shovel. Rather than spend $40-$60 for a fireplace toolset which has 2 or more tools you just don't use much if at all, we decided to go ala-cart and get just the 2 tools we knew we would use (a poker and a shovel). Total cost was under $12. We did of course have to give up having a nice tool stand to go this route.

Shovel. A little long for a wood stove or insert.
Would RecommendIt's a little long to get the angles needed to shovel a wood stove or a wood insert but it works well enough and would probably work great in a traditional fireplace.

Helpful item
Would RecommendIf you need to get the ashes out of your fireplace, this works. However, it is light duty.

The angle of the shovel is not effective and the blade doesn’t clean ashes very well.

Removing ashes
Would RecommendI recently started using my fireplace again and needed a tool to scoop up the ashes. This shovel fit that need perfectly, it is big enough to get the job done quickly and yet small enough to get between the grate legs and the wall of my fireplace.

Works as described its a ash shovel
Would RecommendSo some people complain it doesn't stand up to real high temps. Guess what it doesn't its thin metal last one I had lasted 4 years so this year I splurged and bought a new one do to mine being bent from heat. Either deal with it or let your coals cool off simple right. Second is handle is to short to reach the back of the wood stove or fireplace. Guess what it is but, You are all ready at Lowes so walk over to the metal section and grab a rod that is the length you like and is same diameter of i...

Too Short for Normal Fireplace or Wood Stove
Would Not RecommendI'm sorry I bought this "fireplace" shovel, but I was desperate at the time because my old one finally gave out at age 35 and I needed one now. It is far too short for any normal fireplace, and now I have to use gloves to be able to use it at all. I'm going to splice the old shovel back together somehow. The new shovel would be great for cat litter if I had a cat.
Works as advertised.
Would RecommendNot sure if the other review was serious. It's a shovel. It does what it was designed to do, remove ash. Maybe if you let the embers cool a bit they wouldn't burn the paint off? No worries, buy with confidence that this shovel in fact does work.
Not sure it's safe
Would Not RecommendI bought it to replace one that broke in my set and I used it a couple of times. Each time, as it was exposed to high temperatures, there was a strong chemical smell coming from it. I am not sure what it is, it might just be the coating that finishes curing, but since I don't want to breathe fumes that could be harmful, I decided not to use it further. If it is not meant to collect embers in a fireplace, it should not be listed in the fireplace tools section
