What Customers Are Saying
The product has a mixed reception. Many users praise its attractive design, easy installation, and useful features like LED lighting. However, a significant number have experienced issues such as the doorbell getting stuck, lighting not working, and compatibility problems. Some had to replace the entire system due to these problems. While most reviews are positive, the negative experiences suggest potential quality control or design flaws that need addressing. Customers recommend thoroughly testing compatibility before installation to avoid any issues.

I had the same problem as the others; Had to hold button to get the full chime sequence. The person that mentioned the diode sparked my memory (poor metaphor), and I looked in my Heathco LLC chime and they had provided extra diodes in the purchase. I wrapped a leg of the diode around each wire screw and viola! It ran the whole chime sequence. ONE BIG DRAWBACK. THE LIGHT DOESN'T WORK WHEN THE DIODE IS INSTALLED :-(
Do not buy!!
Would Not RecommendI purchased this doorbell button about four years ago. I found it interesting that my review is the exact same as a few others. A few days after installing this doorbell (and it worked properly), a few idiot kids decided it would be funny to ring my doorbell and run away. I noticed a humming sound coming from my chime and a burning smell. I discover that the doorbell button got stuck and burned my chime. I replaced the chime, thinking that was the problem. Wrong! Same issue again. I have since h...
Cute
Would RecommendIt looks really nice at night, love the light up button :) I have had a lot of compliments from visitors.
Horrible product
Would Not RecommendI bought this at the store because it looked nice. I figured a door bell switch is a door bell switch. Wrong. Like other reviewers, it simply doesn't work. It starts to ring the door bell and then just stops. I called Utilitech and they informed me I needed the 1 amp diode to make it work properly. You've got to be kidding. After all the hassle of drilling my siding and installing this thing (builder left no slack in the wiring and it was a nightmare to get it connected), now I've got to ...
Poor design
Would Not RecommendI bought the button and a utilitech doorbell as well. I removed my old electromagnetic chime for the fancy electric door bell. While it looks nice and sounds nice...there is a minor flaw with the marketing of this product. I went through three buttons and two door bells because the chime would never fully run, unless you held the button down continuously. To solve that problem, the instruction say check the diode, or reverse the diode polarity. What flippin diode...it doesn't come with one. N...
Shorted and melted my chime mechanism.
Would Not RecommendOne person wrote a review about how the button got stuck and melted his door bell mechanism. I figured that was a fluke and unlikely to happen, otherwise they'd stop selling the door bell. The button requires an hole to be bored out behind it to allow it to sit flush on the mounting surface. If it is torqued at all, the mechanism that attaches the wires to the button can come loose and short. This caused the chime mechanism to engage continuously. Ours melted and cause all sorts of smoke. ...
Sweet looking doorbell.....works fine.
Would RecommendI was very shocked to read the reviews. If you don't know how to install a doorbell then hire someone that does. If you wire this directly WITHOUT a transformer you will fry this thing. My worked just fine installed in minutes.
Almost Burned Down My House
Would Not RecommendThe button got stuck and melted my actual doorbell and burned out my transformer. Do Not Buy. Then I tried the bronze long rectangle button and it did the same thing. Both buttons are garbage and safety hazard.
Won't work with my doorbell
Would Not RecommendIt definitely looks nice and well built but it doesn't work with my new homes doorbell. When properly wired up, my OEM doorbell (the one that came with my new home) won't stop ringing. I contacted Utilitech customer support and they suggested that the switch was defective and recommended returning it to the store for a new one. After a long trip, I wired up the second switch and found the same problem. I tested both switches with my multi-meter and somehow the circuitry inside the switch that al...
