Top Hook Doesn't Screw into Moat
Would Not RecommendThe top hook came in a little white-colored bag inside the box, so I couldn't get a look at it in the store. When I got it opened, I found out it was designed to be screwed into the moat, but the hook is smooth on the bottom, so it doesn't screw in. I tried putting it together anyway, and the top hook just slides out. (See photo. It's scratched from trying to force it together, but completely smooth and useless). Definitely would not buy again.

I was having a huge ant problem at my Hummingbird feeder. I purchased this little gadget and no more ants! I will be buying a few more this year for my other feeders! Would RecommendTo cut to the chase - is this moat good enough to do the job = YES. For the price if you need to stop ants from getting to your hummingbird feeder this sound get the job done for you. That said I do think there are better choices out there if you have the time to shop around a little. For one the hook that goes on top could be a little longer which would make it easier for you to add water and refill as needed to the moat. The hook on the bottom is my biggest issue with this moat. Would RecommendThis is one of those instances when you expect it to be cheap junk and it turns out to be wonderful. The interior fittings, where the hooks screw in, are metal. And they're machined perfectly. No cross threading. No unscrewing in the wind. I bought 8 and they were all perfect. Holds a lot of weight. Because it's a metal fitting, it holds my huge orchids, in big ceramic pots with soaking wet potting media, with no problem.
