THHN wire is code approved for running in conduit. I work with stranded wire, WAGO, and Ideal Insure Lever connectors. I buy it in 500 ft rolls as it is a much better price per foot.

While not perfect, the resistance is low enough that power loss is negligible over moderate distances. In contrast, I found that the material on the outside did not conduct electricity to any significant extent.
