What Customers Are Saying
The fish tape has a mixed reception. Some find it a useful and effective tool for home wiring projects, with its compact size, sturdy construction, and ability to easily feed through walls and conduits. The one-foot measurement markings on the tape are appreciated for precision work. However, many customers report issues with quality and performance, such as the tape arriving defective or jammed, difficulty unwinding and rewinding, and the steel tip getting bent. Overall, the fish tape may be suitable for basic, one-time home projects, but those requiring more heavy-duty or frequent use may want to consider a higher-quality alternative.

Would RecommendGood fish tape for projects around the house. I don’t not think this is of the quality to be used daily for a professional. Works fine and is strong enough. It is hard to winded up.
Total failure. Unusable
Would Not RecommendCan't say how well it performed, as it arrived defective. The tape seems to have locked itself inside. Perhaps it is the narrower tape, or just a poorly designed product. Either way, it is a total fail for me. Good idea, poor execution.

Best fish tape I've used
Would RecommendI purchased this to run cat 5 cable from my attic all the way to my basement and it worked great. It's very rigid so it won't snag and bend like the cheaper fish tape out there.
Good spring. Easy to feed.
Would RecommendI like the smooth operation of this fish tape. I ran 12 gauge Romex through my ceiling to add a small can light. This steel tape has a nice coating and moved smoothly over the insulation. My old fish tape was used outside and is completely trashed. Make sure this isn't put away wet.
Great tool for all electrical work
Would RecommendGreat for jobs around the house. Came in handy to add a few outlets in a pa try and laundry room I just redid. Easy to use and easy to work even if you are a beginner.
Excellent Tool for Quick Wire Pulls and More
Would RecommendThis 25-foot steel fish tape has quickly become one of my go-to tools for electrical work and general utility tasks. Its compact length is perfect for shorter runs where a full-size tape would be overkill, making it much easier to handle in tight spaces or overhead pulls. Despite being shorter, the steel construction still provides plenty of strength and rigidity for pushing through conduit or wall cavities. One of the standout features is the double loop tip, which significantly reduces the ch...
Handy product
Would Recommendhandy product for new construction or remodeling. Works great for running electrical wires, ethernet wires, TV wires, speaker wires any type of wire. High quality, easy to use product durably built to last. Would recommend having one on hand.
Gone Fishin
Would RecommendI don't have much experience with fish tape but this seems durable and easy to use. It was easy to extend the tape to it's maximum 25 feet and easy to reel the tape in too. I could see how this could be used in other projects besides electrical.
Great little fish tape
Would RecommendTerrific little fish tape. I’m used to big, heavy ones, which while good for big or long runs can be awful heavy for short stuff especially if you’re doing it over and over. This one is light for being steel. I’ve also never had one with measurement marks but now I’ve got this one, I love the idea. The only negative I have with it is the hook is rather big. Unless you bend or tape it closet, it barely fits in a 3/4” conduit. It was ok with bends, but I’d also taped quite a bit. We’ll see if it...
Nice tool to fish wires.
Would RecommendGreat tool to fish wires through tight spaces such as walls. The wire has a clip on the end that can help with holding on a wire or line onto. The wire part is sturdy enough to hold shape when fishing through a wall.
Works great
Would RecommendI wanted to get a steel fish tape to solve the problem of running back speaker wires from one side of my living room to the other with no access to walls, ceiling, or basement. My only solution was to run the wires under the carpet since they carry no dangerous voltage. The fish tape worked perfectly to get the wires across the room. The fish tape worked perfectly to pull the wires under the carpet with minimal cuts to run them.
Good enough for limited use.
Would RecommendAdequate for a one time project or limited use. If you only need it for a specific project and don't want to spend a lot, this is your solution. It was binding and hard to turn/unwind at first. A little WD40 around the edges solved that. The wire will leave a black residue (probably oil to keep it from rusting) when you unwind it. Be aware if you are using it around furniture or light colored carpet/drapes. It will require a minimum 1/2" hole for feed through. It is rigid enough but will st...

Good working fish tape
Would RecommendWe used this to pull electrical wire through the ceiling for our kitchen island light fixture. It made the job a lot easier then trying to do it by hand. I think this is a good addition tool to use in our upcoming wiring projects.
Perfect Tool for Quick, Easy Wire Pulling!
Would RecommendI picked up this Southwire 1/8 in. x 25 ft. Flat Steel Fish Tape for a quick home wiring project, and I couldn’t be happier. The compact size is perfect for tight spaces, and the 25-foot length was more than enough to get through several walls in my bedroom setup. It has a solid, sturdy feel and doesn't twist or bind like cheaper fish tapes I've used in the past. The flat steel design gives just the right amount of rigidity and flexibility, which made it easy to maneuver around obstacles. I esp...
Nice tape
Would RecommendThis is a nice little handy tool to have for sure. I haven't extended it out the entire 25ft but it seems pretty strong/sturdy at 10 feet. It rolls back in fairly easily. I have to run electrical from my basement into my attic once my whole house fan arrives, so this fish tape will be a huge help.
Assembly defect
Would Not RecommendAssembled incorrectly had to disassemble and reassemble to make operational.

Do not buy
Would Not RecommendPure junk. Did not work straight out of the box. I had to pull with all my strength to get the cable to come out 5 feet. And then it wouldn’t go back in. Opened the box and then threw this piece of junk in the garage 5 minutes later.
