Would RecommendYou have to raise the lid partially so the latch for the lock will allow you to turn the key to lock the box. Not mentioned in the instructions. Also, as some reviews point out, and shown in instructions, in the event the box is in a fire, the lid will melt shut and must be pried open. Sentry does state they will replace the box at no charge. My concern is if the lid melts shut, what is the impact to the latch and will it unlock so you can pry the lid open.

Large capacity but hard to handle.
Would RecommendLarge with lots of space. File folders for nicely. I haven't had a fire so I can speak to how it holds up then. Only down sides I have is that the key doesn't want to go in and you have to fight it a bit, and it's heavy and slick so moving it can be a pain though I guess that can help prevent it being stolen.

Perfect for storing documents in hanging files
Would RecommendIt is what I expected, the perfect size for documents in file folders. There was more than enough room for all my documents. What would have been helpful is a pocket in the lid for smaller items like passports or an accessory that could be purchased for storing smaller items, i.e. a pocketed hanging file folder.

Fireproof and waterproof safe
I like this safe because it is large enough to fit 10 inch by 13 inch envelopes with important papers inside. It would be even better if the inside dimensions were 10 X 13 rather than 10.4 X 12 inches.

Absolute junk
Absolute junk do not buy straight out of the box. The key barely works. If I have to leave one star Review will, but they do not deserve that. This would be a zero star rating if I had a chance
