Works Great!

My drop spreader is working great after years of use. I check the calibration every spring, but that's it for maintenance.

Lined lawn

Not exactly a cheap product that leaves stripes in our lawn. Definitely a spreader deficiency that you would think Scott’s would want to fix.

Terrible spreader

I bought a new Scott’s drop spreader and a large bag of triple action turf builder. Big mistake. The wheels are not large enough to keep the hopper above the wet lawn..The spreader totally clogged because the bottom got too wet and the material in the hopper wouldn’t go through the small holes. A total waste of time and money.

Product doesn't work.

I bought a Scott's drop spreader. The right side locks up when you put grass seed in it. Take it out and it works. Junk don't buy.

Piece of garbage

This spread is absolute garbage. The wheels do not turn smoothly. The right one gets stuck every 2-4ft and drags. It is obnoxious to use. I’m mad I spent so much money on this crap.

Not a good experience.

One wheel for engaging spindle. No traction on slick plastic wheels make for not engaging spindle. Gate that opens to let product out constantly sticks, even when clean and dry. Plastic around wingnut that holds handle stripped and broke off even though I had not even applied enough force to hold the handle straight.

Nope

Terrible... hard slippery wheels that have almost no traction, and only one of them drives the agitator. No bearings at all, tons of resistance due to friction between the wheel and its housing. Definitely not worth anywhere near the price.

Terrible Drop Spreader

Purchased brand new from Scott’s directly. All other complaints are valid. Wheel locks up , so product won’t go thru chute, very cheap. Scott’s did refund me, obviously many issues with this drop spreader. Had my old Scott’s drop spreader for 25 years, they are not made nearly the same anymore.

Drops granules without pulling trigger handle

I bought this spread awhile back and just now used it for the first time. Seems solid but the issue I have is fertilizer drops out constantly regardless if I'm pulling the trigger handle or not. Come to find out the release bar on the bottom of the spreader has a gap between it and the bottom allowing granuals to drop out all the time. I see no adjustments for this and can't think of a way to rig it to fill that gap. Disappointed as I've had good luck with scotts products in the past.

Disgusted

I bought this Scotts Drop Spreader about 6 weeks ago and tried to use it yesterday for the first time to no avail. I calibrated it as per Scotts instructions, yet once I loaded it up with Scotts Winterizer fertilizer, the right wheel would not turn. I emptied it to check for any lumps but there were none. So this drop spreader works fine with nothing in the hopper but put Scotts fertilizer in the hopper and it fails miserably!

Excellent product!

Disappointed in the spreader

This spreader is not like previous versions of Scott’s drop spreader. Previously I used an entire 5,000 sq ft bag of each step of Scott’s fertilizer in its entirety with my old spreader. Now, with going by the same recommendation, barely a half of bag is used on the same area…barely any fertilizer is dropping. I am thoroughly disappointed with my new spreader and will be looking for another brand!

Ease of use

Came already assembled. Defintely easy to use in that respect. Shipping on time. Undamaged. The downside. It came with no instructions. I had to dig on the internet to find overall plan to use it. Second, in my search I learned how to 'calibrate" this spreader. Easy, but they emphasize it should be calibrated with each use. They are right. I calibrated it. 2 days later I checked it again and it already was out. I like the drop spreader style because its easier to control distributi...

Bad Spreader Bar Design

The plastic shuut-off bar bends and flexes, resulting on it jamming open and allowing excess product to fall onto the lawn, resulting in dead spots. I previously owned a Scottts spreader with a steel shut-off bar. In 20+ years of use I NEVER had this issue. Is a steel bar available as a Service Part?
