Scott’s step 2 KILLED my perfectly plush lawn

Finally got my lawn where I wanted it and applied Scott’s step 2 exactly as the package explained - While leaves are wet and not before any heavy rains. 5 days later my lawn was completely torched. I am devastated. Took me a ton of work last fall and this spring to get my lawn where I wanted. Literally have to start over. I’ll never use this stuff again and suggest that nobody does. Absolute garbage.

Unilaterally obliterated my whole lawn

I have used their 4 step program on multiple lawns for years. This one is the last. Step 2 unilaterally destroyed nearly my entire picture perfect lawn in one foul application. Absolutely the worst.... step 2 sucks

This product is terrible step 2 is the worst ever My lawn looked beautiful. Before I applied this crap to my Lawn .. hoping step 3 can help me with the brown spots my lawn is covered with dry grass I work so hard to make this right. I raked a few brown spots with a thatching rake took out some dry grass but most of it still holding on was thinking of running my thatching machine on it before applying step 3. does not work

Killed no lawn violets, barely any clover.Did it in a cross pattern so not to have missed spots. Lawn was dewy and material was sticking to leaves. Not worth the money or time spent.

Grass turning Brown

Been using the 4 step program for 4 years now and have had great results. I just applied step 2 and can see it’s killing my clover, which is great. I’m am noticing some of my grass is turning brown as well. Never had this problem before.

Two out of three is bad

I put step 2 down in early June as directed. Unfortunately for the past 2 out of three years it destroyed my front lawn. Used to be a great product. I didn’t use it last year. I used the crab grass prevention twice instead and my lawn was perfect all summer This year I used the step two again and it looks like I bomb hit it again. Please fix it or use a new formula for step two. I think maybe go back to the old recipe

Burn Warning !

After applying step 2 4 weeks ago my lawn is TOASTED in many spots and FULL of weeds. Step 1 worked like a charm but Step 2 did the exact opposite of what it said it would do. I wont be buying again. Very disappointed !!

Step 2 is a horrible product

I wish I had read the reviews before applying Step 2 to my lawn- I had not used Scott's step program before and decided to give it a try- In 30+ years, this is the first time a lawn product caused brown spots, some a foot wide, some larger, all throughout the lawn. This is a horrible product and now I have to figure out how to get the lawn repaired. Not looking forward to the time and expense to get my lawn back to respectable.

Very Poor Results

I have applied Scott’s 4 Step for several years. I applied it per instructions and 1 week later my entire lawn has browned out. Application was the same as always. Very few weeds were present.

Burnt some areas of grass turned a light brown.

I’ve used the Scott Step fertilizer since my first home purchase in 1999. The last two seasons I’ve noticed the fertilizer has turned the lawn a light brown. This has never happened before. I applied as I always do. Very disappointed especially that this fertilizer costs a premium, advertises no lawn burn and is Scott’s premium fertilizer.

I wish that I'd read the reviews here first. Like too many, Scotts 2 turned the grass blotchy brown. I followed the instructions exactly.

Burned my lawn

Scotts Step 2 burned my lawn and now I’m in the process of fixing it. I regret buying the entire 4 step system at the beginning of the season now I have 2 more steps that I am reluctant to apply

It has been 2 weeks since I applied Scotts Step 2 fertilizer...It did not kill broad leaf or clover..My lawn has brown spots of stripes,.,,looks burnt. Followed the directions just like every year I used this product. I have an irrigation system, so lawn is getting watered. Will think twice before throwing out money to Scotts company.

Product works best and easy to apply.

Decided to do my own lawn this year and Scott's made it easy with the Step program!

Burned my lawn

I had excellent results with Scotts STEP 1 but when I applied Scotts STEP 2 my grass turned brown! I'm extremely disappointed. Will not use again.

Not good

We applied a week or so ago and it was very small granules/powdery. It burned or killed our grass. It looks awful. Followed the directions completely.

The way to your best lawn.

Scotts 4-Step has brought our yard nothing but Success and Savings from lawn care service poviders. The size of our residential Back, Front and Side yards provide for a buy 2 years get the 3rd year free. Have 4 sealable containers in the shed for this. Just applied Step-2 this morning onto the dew. Yard went from a terrace formed area, to a dormant "lawnDr" seeding in late Sept, their follow up care the following spring. After that, all Scotts.

Step 2 burned my lawn!!!!

I’ve used the Scott’s 4 step program for years and had excellent results. I’ve had the same results with Step 2 as many others here….my lawn now is burned! Obviously the formula was changed, and not for the better! I won’t use Step 2 again.

Disappointed

The 1st step worked well and had our grass growing great! Once we put the 2nd step on, all of our grass turned brown and hay-like. Completely killed it.
