Would RecommendI needed the switch contained inside to repair a small lamp. I couldn't find just the switch, So I removed the outer case and used the switch. Worked great! A waste, since I had to discard the shiny case.

Would RecommendSeems to be well-made and was very easy to install. I replaced an old socket so did not really need the base, but the new socket fit into the old socket perfectly. My only surprize was the cost, but then it has been about 25 years since I've had to replace a lamp socket. The biggest problem is remembering to unplug the lamp from the wall first.

Would Not RecommendI'm disappointed with this socket. First the directions say: "Disassemble shell from cap by pressing where indicated on shell". There's nothing indicated on the shell. The old one I removed said PRESS HERE but not the new one. Second, the slide switch grinds as it moves like it's got sand in it. And last, there's not enough room inside the shell below the switch for a knot in the cord wires. To get the cap to click in with the shell, I had to omit the knot. Not so good.
