With a clamp clamped around the center of balance of a weight lifting bar bell with weights on each end, lifted 36 lbs total. Released when increased to 40 lb.

Would RecommendVery strong clamping pressure. With a clamp clamped around the center of balance of a weight lifting bar bell with weights on each end, 50 lbs total. Lifted it 50lbs with no indication of it releasing. Also no problem holding the jaws open to the full 2 inches, one handed. The smaller 1 inch jaw clamps are harder to hold open one handed due to the short grips.

Would Not RecommendThis is a fairly standard clamp, but has nothing to cushion the metal, and with such a strong spring imparting such a strong clamping force, it risks marring any wood project you use it on.
