Would RecommendUnscrewed the mounting screws, cleaned all surfaces. Installed new flap ensuring not to strip out the mounting screws with my power drill. deposited the old one in the trash an washed up.

Flap does not seal very well as had small gaps on sides. Too easy for dogs to grab and chew on as magnet strip is only at the bottom, as mine did and destroyed.

Would Not RecommendI bought the LG. Extreme dog door w/3 flaps.all two flaps wouldnt hang right from start. Let lots of air by. The magnet was weak. A few months after installing the corners were shot and more air comes in.I have small wild animals come in if the discover it. I continued using it because my money is so tight. And on top of that I can't find a 3 flap replacement kit.

I bought my door 13 to 15 yrs ago. I am just now replacing the flap. I’m in northern Ohio hot to frigid. In that time I have had 5 50 plus lb. dogs (4 labs 1 Aussie) and 15 plus kitties and one pigmy goat who stuck his head through regularly. The goat and dogs were too large for the door!! The used it anyway. The Aussie still uses it leaving fur on ALL SIDES as she squeezes her ample girth through the medium size opening. The PetSafe dog doors are well made and last a long time. Ours has lasted over 10 years! I just replaced the flap today to freshen it up. The replacement flap is the same high quality. Our dogs are large and use the extra large door. But even our cats can push it open. It keeps the cold air out in the winter while letting animals in and out.
