Take the blue base off
Would RecommendSomething that's not clear is the base (the threaded part) needs to come off in order to use it w/ the 5 gallon paint container that the Lowe's sells. The spout just pops in/out of the container, so the base is not necessary. This was a head scratcher w/ a simple solution.

Would Not RecommendPros: once it's on, it's on. Keeps things much cleaner than having to pour from a bucket. Cons: It has to be forced on or else the threads will not engage; It doesn't come off easily (especially if you leave it on while painting and the paint dries.) Have to clean after each pour to keep previous CON from happening. Doesn't have a cap so you can leave it on.
