Can't view as intended

Purchased Aug. 2022. Now in Oct. 2023 (Just 1 year and 2 months later) the recorder shows offline when we check it on our laptop. We called Night Owl and the tech said they don't support Windows applications anymore! The only way to view is on our smartphone and if left on the Night Owl can drain our data allowance in no time at all. So we had to turn off notifications. What good are security cameras you can't watch continually or that you can't leave notifications on! Night Owl support? ...

Initial review

Bought this system on a recommendation from son the tech. Un pack and plugged all in. Everything worked well. Ordered a doorbell to go with. Only problem is a missing security set screw that holds the frame secure over the unit.

Good while it lasted

Purchased a DP8 series 12 Channel wired system. Sam's Club. Great clarity fairly easy to install. The android application was useless, after 6 months as it did not connect with my phone. Sadly the hard drive simply stopped operating after 19 months and warranty is only one year.

Great for recording

I bought this to replace my THD system when it's Hard Drive failed. Night Owl Marketing was great in providing a compatible system that didn't require that I replace all my old cameras. Simply unplugged the old and plugged in the new using the same connections.

The DVR does what it needs to do

We hooked this DVR up to another set of cameras already hard wired in our home. (That system was through Q-See who apparently went out of business during the pandemic. The DVR we had for the Q-See system had started making noises and we believe the fan was starting to go). This works perfectly EXCEPT our TV is only HD and we didn't realize it needed to be a 4K in order to put the program onto the TV itself. Almost 5 star

Cameras work amazing and when you replay can zoom into crazy close but for some reason 2 of the 4 go black and white at night. Can't seem to have these 2 cameras color 24/7.

Hard to connect

Very hard to connect to from a remote location. Only 3 or 4 cameras connect. Can not get any play back from any cameras. Does not work as well as the first Night Owl system we had.

The view is great

This is the best camera set I have bought. I'm using 8 of the 16 cameras at this time I like the spotlights I live out in the country and it helps a lot. If you're looking to buy a set hope you have as much Is success as I did

More features than I expected

So very happy with this product - excellent resolution (4k) plus LED bright light from camera with person detected. Excellent deterrent for crime.

4K is much Better!

I upgrade my old 8channel 1080p to the 4K... The quality is just like they stated! Vivid & much better, the field of view is wider also. Only negative is thde DVR doesnt have audio in like my old one; I only had one audio camera anyway. So, it was a good trade.

DP8-12 wired camera system…..

I bought this item/kit, and the first one was DOA (no output signal yo the TV), the replacement one DID come fairly quickly but I was getting a weak output signal from it too as the TV would flash off and on, Customer Experience This booking page is currently unavailable. Replacing outdated system

I bought this system to replace my older 720p camera system. I only have a few of my cameras changed out as temps are single digits to -30. I haven’t got the app on my phone to accept the DVR yet but I’m working on it. It keeps showing the dvr is already listed but has a red x on it

Works great, very sensitive!

Video quality is great, very easy to set up, simple but useful interface. The motion detection is a little sensitive, even on 'low' setting, it will pick up folks across the street in their garage. Depending where you live, that could be a good thing. I would definitely buy this exact setup again
