This restored the finish on our decorative table top without having to strip the original surface. The polyurethane finish was degrading after a few years. We used a sanding pad to scratch up the polyurethane surface and then applied the wax. Worked great.

Great for a black finish
Would RecommendI have used this for years to put a black finish on forged iron work. Apply when the iron stops glowing. The first coatings burn leaving a carbon layer which is then covered by the melting wax. Polish when cool. So quick and easy.
Not food safe & high odor
It has a HUGE chemical smell and should be applied in an open area. It is NOT food grade and should not be used on items that may, at some point, contain food items like cutting boards or salad/fruit bowls. It does cover well and is fairly easy to work with.
