Disappointed in product

I am in the process of finishing cabinets, I have put 2 coats on them and am not happy at all. I am not getting the finish I am trying to achieve. Almost 2o years ago I used the same product or so I am being told from the store in which I purchased this product. I am using now the premium oil fast drying polyurethane warm semi gloss and before I used the fast-drying polyurethane superior durability clear semi- gloss. What I am trying to figure out has the product changed that much?

Great porduct

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love Minwax polyurethane. We build log furniture and always love giving that bare wood a nice coats that brings out the beauty of the wood. It's like watching candy being handmade. It's just so satisfying. We have been using Minwax for 25+ years and love their line of stains and polyurethanes. You can't go wrong.

My first wood table refinishing project

Great polyurethane. Smell was not too bad and was nearly gone 24hrs later. Finished level and smooth. Very satisfied with the results.

Good solid product

Seems pretty durable

Used several coats on new butcher block countertops we are building.

Do not buy. Not like it used to be.

I bought 3 gallons of this in december. Opened one of the up and poured it in quart cans. Used a quarter of 1 can to put a first coat on some plywood shelves. Everything went as expected. Sanded them after 6 hours to put a second coat on. Opened the can again to get started and noticed the poly is quite a bit thicker than it was earlier. Like spreading molassis on my plywood. would not level out. Left brush marks in my wood. Do not buy this garbage.

Dries in the can even when sealed!

I purchased a can about a year ago, used some from the can on a couple of projects. Sealed it fully, and kept it in a climate controlled garage. When I opened the can today, there was a thick hard shell on top! I broke through it with a screwdriver, and the entire rest of the can was the consistency of honey mixed with jello. Obviously unusable. I don't understand how the product dried out (cured?) when the can was fully sealed and there was almost no air above the product in the can. If you are...

Nice Finish: Spray can has issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The finish is nice, but I have a couple of issues with the spray can. The first is that when you spray a horizontal surface you have to hold the can horizontal and that leads to sputtering that messes up the finish. The second problem just happened with my most recent purchase where it started leaking at the base of the spray nozzle. I got varnish all over my hand and the drips fell on my project and created flaws I had to sand out.

Great Product

I’ve used Minwax stains for many years and always satisfied. On recent project I used Minwax Dark Walnut stain and Polyurethane Warm Ultra Flat.  The finished project was great!  I read some of the one star reviews. Does not make any sense to me. I would say those situations have variables introduced that created problems for them. Properly used this product works very well. I will always use Minwax.

Used this to refinish my nightstands
