Would RecommendRadio has excellent range with the 50 watts of power, audio loudness is perfect for vehicles with more wind noise or larger offroad tires. The weather channel features is priceless when weather is moving in and no cell coverage is available. Install was pretty straight foward, unit size is pretty compact for how powerful it is and paired with the 6db antennna for the best performance.

Awesome Radio
Would RecommendI bought this upon release. Everything was perfect, except for one very minor issue in the programming software download from Midland. Channel 8 is locked at low power. To get around that, once the radio is programmed, change the channel on the radio to high power and then read from the radio and the software will be corrected going forward. Only other thing I wish is that it had more memory for additional repeater channels to be saved (i.e. able to save 100 or 1000 channels to be able to ke...

Legends Overlanding in Baja
Would RecommendHi guys we are running adventure tours in Baja full time and have found midland to be our radio of choice. First they are so user-friendly. Everything on the face of the unit is easy to find and makes sense. The extra power on this unit has been great when we get into the canyons and are still trying to communicate with the team. The audio sounds amazing, everyone who hears me talk on it says there is no comparison to the audio quality of other radios out there. Excellent range and reliability
Would RecommendComing from an MXT115, then to an MX400, and now using the MXT500.. I have had nothing but great experience with these micro-mobile units. I would highly recommend these units over the hand helds (although they are great as well) because they have more power, range, and you don't have to worry about battery life. The MXT500 is a big unit. I use Ram-mounts to mount it on my dash. Also note this unit requires you to push the volume button to power. (Some people get confused).

The Future of GMRS
Would RecommendI had the opportunity to use the MXT500 while off-roading recently, and was blown away by the range and clarity! Not only was I able to communicate with others who were over 30 miles away from me, I was also able to hear them clearly without squelch or any feedback!
