What Customers Are Saying

The Kobalt Double Drive Screwdriver is praised for its ratcheting mechanism, which allows for faster and more efficient screwing and unscrewing. Customers appreciate the variety of included bits stored in the handle, providing convenience and flexibility. The tool is seen as a great value, with many highlighting its quality construction and durability. The "double drive" feature, enabling twice the speed of a standard screwdriver, is a standout feature. However, some customers have reported issues with the ratcheting mechanism becoming stuck or loose over time, and the bits or small screws coming loose or breaking. A few customers also felt the design could be improved, with complaints about the magnetic bits feeling cheap and the handle being too bulky.

Awesome Design

The design of this screwdriver is Genius and the convenience of having the bits stored in the handle is also genius! However I have noted that whenever you’re twisting the screwdriver to tighten something the base that holds the bits tends to loosen up and unscrew from the base so possibly there could be a better design so when you are turning the handle you are not also applying pressure and loosening the base that holds the bits

It’s the New Coke of tools. Original was better.

I’ve used one at work for about 5 years and it’s my go-to tool every day, so I decided to put one on my Christmas list for home. I didn’t realize they had changed the design. The new version is absolute garbage. The mechanism is loud and sounds weak. The bits won’t stay in. They drop out every time I pull away from a screw head. The switch for changing rotation direction was reversed. WHY?? Kobalt needs to ditch this piece of excrement and bring back the original design. This thing is ...

Great for loose fitting, lengthy screws

Would Recommend

The bits included in the kit are rather soft and will quickly wear or snap with any real force. The handle itself though feels sturdy enough for machine screws but I wouldn't dare try it for self tapping screws or wood screws in a tight pilot hole. Too much force feels like I might snap something in the ratcheting mechanism. My main use for this driver is for longer machine screws that don't require much torque but can take many revolutions with a standard driver.

Great addition to the handyman toolbox

Would Recommend

Well built tool that speeds up little jobs. Though I wished it included a T10 bit. I don’t have much use for several types of flat head bits these days but the specialty bits are where it’s at.
