I bought this toaster thinking the KITCHEN AID name would provide a 'quality' product. What a disappointment! When toasting a slice of white bread on #2 setting, the bread facing the inside burner is almost totally burnt. Toasting another slice at the #1 setting the inside is much darker but not burnt. Apparently that side of the bread in getting additional heat from the other side of toaster. POOR design! I should had paid attention to more customer reviews as I just saw another complaint...
KitchenAid is great; this toaster has a problem
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’re currently on our third version of this toaster thanks to KitchenAid’s excellent warranty but this toaster has a design flaw. It will only toast one side of the bread. The side of the bread closest to the outside edge of the toaster will not toast. It can be either the right or left side. Do not get this toaster. We’ve decided to give up on it.

Would Not Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This toaster is the biggest piece of garbage I have ever used. Toasts unevenly, makes one side of the toast dark. It feels very cheap, the slide doesn’t want to stay down with first push. This is my warranty replacement and this one performs the exact same way the first one did. I would highly recommend finding another brand.

Would Not RecommendI purchased an earlier version of this toaster probably 6-7 years ago and was very happy with it. However, it finally stopped working and I replaced it with this toaster. Do not assume that “new and improved” is always better. In this case KA is offering a cheaper, less desirable model. It takes forever to toast a slice of bread and does so unevenly.
