Never Buy This - Constant Jams

I bought this disposal, paid $250 to have it installed, and within a month, it jammed and would not clear. I call Insinkerator to make a warranty claim and was told that they would only replace it and not cover installation. After paying a second $250 to have the new disposal installed, it too failed after six months. It just locks up if not used for more than a day.

This model just stopped working.

I am very disappointed with this Prestige 2 model. I've installed many different models and this one is a bad design. It is only 1 year old, just installed in 2023 just before Thanksgiving. But it just jammed up when went to use it there was just humming. Used the jam wrench but wouldn't move. Un-installed it but couldn't find anything in it. Very upset that I have to buy another one this quickly, just have to go back to a better model that I know is good. Probably why the model was discontinued...

Excellent

Powerful and exceptionally quiet. How much can you say about a garburator? It takes everything we give it and pulverizes it with hardly any noise. Definitely worth spending a few extra $ and getting the higher end unit for tye lack of noise. Had the lower end insinkerator for 15 years and it sounded like a rock crusher.

Failed

Have had this same unit for the past year. !st unit failed after 5 months. 2nd Unit failed after 5 months. We do not use it for anything out of the ordinary and only have two of us living at home. Same problem both times. Unit stopped as if it was seized up.

Started great, but hasn't lasted

We bought this about 4 years ago to replace the Badger 5XL that was in the house when we moved in. It was super quiet, which we all loved. After about 1.5 years, it started to jam and need to be reset. Due to the size and space limitations under the sink, we can barely use the enclosed hex key to clear the rotor- luckily, I have a hex bit for my drill that fits.

They weren't kidding when they say Quiet!

Just installed this week; very straight forward. Replaced an old Kenmore during counter & sink replacement. So far, so good! It's so quiet that I almost walked away from the sink while it was still running!

Bad drain design

Purchased a new Insinkerator Evolution Prestige in 2020 for a new house we were building. COVID pandemic hit so we stopped construction. The brand new garbage disposal was stored inside in a safe, climate controlled environment. Finally, finished construction and installed the garbage disposal. Out of the box it leaks from the drain flange gasket. The coupling is held on by one screw which applies uneven pressure to the gasket and does not to seal properly. No way to fix it. Worthless!!! Quite and powerful

I replaced this unit because my previous unit was frozen. I like this product. Quiet and powerful.

Performed as described.

It was a replacement of a similar unit. It fit perfectly. Only problem was a loud schreeching noise at start up.

Worst disposer do not buy!

Too Quiet, Failed Inspection! LOL

This is the 3rd InSinkErator I've purchased. We love how quiet they are. Recently the inspector for a home we renovated noted that the disposal needs to be repaired or replaced. He said that he only heard a hum when it was powered on. Well, I knew what he was hearing. It was working perfectly. We had to record a video of the disposal being turned on, removed the rubber drain cover and showed the disposal working properly. LOL It failed due to it being TOO quiet! I love it.

7 months and failing

This replaced the original builder grade unit. Ran great initially. Super quiet. Now 7 months later it's making noises as if the internals are out of balance. Getting progressively worse. Looks like a plumber visit to see if it's salvageable. I feel bad because I recommended it to friend based on my initial impressions. Maybe mine is a lemon. Back to the research drawing board for its replacement.

I originally saw this during an episode of This Old House, when one of the guys was touring the factory. He was being shown how they were tested using wood blocks and rocks. He was asked to activate the test for each, which produced sawdust and the equivalent of concrete powder. All while being extremely quiet!
