5 years. Door seal broke during spin cycle, wrenching seal out around drum and BENDING the metal surrounding the door opening!

Worst Machine Ever

I have to say I am very disappointed with my washer. I bought this pair of washer and dryer combo. I have had nothing but problems with this washer. First I had issues with computer on it 2 yrs after purchase. I had go replace it. Then months later I had the plastic shocks break 3 broken. Now the shocks broke again causing the drum to Crack and leak water from below and rubber boot for door. Now I have to buy new washer because this washer broke down and will cost to much to repair.

planned obsolescence

Like all other brand home appliances. This machine will last about 4 to 6 year in normal use. Not trouble free though. leaky door seal, cranky switches and spin cycle hiccups. Unnecessary features only makes repairs more difficult. If parts are available or not too expensive.

Whoever prepared the 2019 user manual did a sloppy

Whoever prepared the 2019 user manual did a sloppy, uninformed, careless, and incorrect job. Model# GFW450SSM1WW SERIAL# GM 214314T Cabinet&Top Panel diagram item #203 is NOT the item with the model&serial of above. Item#203 is not fits on GM214314T . #203 has 2 in 3 out. Midel&serial has 2in 2 out. Ordering #203 from GE is not fits. How Do I find the part #item# fitjs specifically firts for ge washing mashing you guys manufactured?????

The worst of the worst

This is the worst washing machine I’ve ever owned. I also own the matching dryer and it’s terrible, too. Nothing clean properly and I have to precook/wash most clothes beforehand, constantly having issues with it not being balanced and I don’t overload the washer. I’ve owned it since summer of 2019 and it lasted less than a year before having problems. I’ll never own another GE.

Poor construction

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Less than 5 years old and tge drum bearing failed, the tub was tilted and wore a hole in the casing. Very poorly made. Never had a washer that only lasted for such a short time.

Buyer beware -

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This machine sounds like a jet engine during the spin cycle. We had multiple repair people out here to repair and we were told there’s nothing they can do.. The washer is less than five years old, and out of warranty. We need to play white noise and close doors to keep the baby asleep while doing laundry. The repair people tell me it’s a common issue, but it doesn’t affect its ability to clean clothes. Buyer beware

Used about 5 years but had too much problems. washing stops in between while washing. Now it completely stopped working.

Not even 5 years old and broke. The washer is so poorly made repair man said they no longer make parts for repair. Worst yet, it’s stackable, meaning I either buy another poorly functioning GE washer that will last 5 years or replace both machines. Should have stuck with whirlpool.

Didn't last 5 years

Washer started shaking violently and ended up smoking so much I thought it was going to start a fire. Had someone repair it for due to the shock absorbers going bad. After it was repaired, it lastly only a week or so and it did the same thing. Didn't even last 5 years.

piece of junk

Started making a loud noise during spin and was smoking when I opened the door. Glad I was home. Not even five years old. Disappointed in you GE.

Garbage. I will never buy another GE appliance

Absolute garbage. We had an issue about a year ago and was told to unplug the machine so it could reset. That actually worked then. Yesterday morning went to start a load of wash. Sure enough it was dead and unplug overnight didn’t reset it. It’s going to the dump. Didn’t even last 5 years.

Poor performance

I’ve had this washer all of 5yrs. I always take very good care of my appliances. It started making loud noises and rebalancing issues. Even if I had 2 dry towels in the load. I am completely unsatisfied with the product; as I don’t feel like I was able to get my money’s worth out of it.

Broke after only 5 yrs

After 5 yrs the machine is breaking down . Loud noises are coming from the machine while it’s on and something is breaking apart inside we find plastic pieces attached to pieces of clothes. There is also smoke smell after the load is over . It didn’t last long . So disappointed we will switch to another brand have lost faith in GE appliances

Efficient Clean

First front loading washer we have owned. we love it! For six years now, this unit has function well. We have had no problems at all. Thank you GE.
