Poor packaging

The alarm requires two batteries. Only one was included in the package. There was also no installation or user manual, requiring me to go online to search for it and then to print it out locally.

Like the battery option of this smoke detector. We have not had good luck with the 10 year/no replace battery option (randomly would go off). This detector was also easy to install and set up.

It was really nice that it just fit right into the old mount from the previous alarm, so it didn't turn into a whole new project.

Models with replaceable battery is best.

I like that it operates on 2 AA batteries, and during an alarm it talks to you. What I don’t like is that the mounting ring is not universal. For the same brand, same size unit I should not have to change the mounting ring.

Safety

It has several good features other than just a smoke alarm. It is easy to install.

Make sure the batteries are new.

The set up was loud, but I like the fact that it tells you what the dangerous whether it’s carbon monoxide or smoke or fire it tells you the room to evacuate. We bought them at Lowe’s, but we didn’t install them electrician installed them, but we feel safer with them we live in a old Doublewide that was building 94 and it’s just a fire waiting to happen. Great if you can find your Goldilocks model

I've used this line of smoke detectors for years with no issues. I like the way they interconnect. My biggest gripe is they have multiple features (interconnected or not? voice alarm or not? smoke, carbon monoxide or both? battery or hardwired?) and they don't make units that cover every combination of features. So you end up getting an alarm with added carbon monoxide detector ability (and corresponding price bump) in places where you don't need it. I'm sure that's by design. Would also really ...
