Not Good for 3 1/4" Box
This porcelain ceiling socket claims to fit both 3 1/4 and 4" boxes. However, the holes are set at 4"and I needed them to be at 3 1/4. When I attempted to open the holes to the 3 1/4 position, I ended up breaking the porcelain making it useless. Ended up buying a plastic replacement which was much easier to work with.

Would RecommendEasy install. Pull string designed to be pulled to side so I always use a “U” nail a few inches away to route string through so when string hangs down it’s pulling against nail then horizontally to fixture.

Would RecommendBuy two of these, because they last about two years with regular use, especially with kids who yank on them. Last longer if you pull gently outward instead of straight down. Having the plug helps, but I have found that I have to bend the prongs of whatever I am using to hold better in the outlet.

I've bought the ceiling sockets before to replace porcelain sockets that didn't have the power outlet, they work great and give the opportunity to turn the light off or on. Myself I used the socket to plug in 4ft LED lights.
