Great base to build a stable foundation for pavers

I tamped down this paver base before adding brick pavers around my shed. The bag included rock and sand which helped to get the mixture tamped down tight before adding paver sand. Overall high quality product.

Mostly coarse sand

This product is not at all what it's supposed to be. Like other reviews have said, it might as well be step 2 bedding sand. It's mostly coarse sand with little to no gravel so it doesn't compact very well at all. I think the quality control is lacking on this product. Disappointed.

Nice Base Fill

This is a nice mix of sand and ground stone chips for under pavers, leveling path stones or where extra drainage is needed. I ordered two bags and one was very dry and easy to place but the second was wet and not appropriate to use for smooth leveling as intended. Check all bags to ensure contents are dry before purchasing.

Great product - Base Step 1 & 2

I read all the reviews and my results were different. I found the product excellent. I spread it out tamped it down then moistened it with a shower nozzle and water hose. then tamped it down again. Key is to only do about an inch at a time. I had no large pieces at all in the 24 bags I used. I did a total of 4" thick with a 1" layer of Base step 2 sand on the top layer. Be sure to tamp the soil really well before any paver base. I used Base 1 and base 2 to make a retaining wall fire pit.

I purchased numerous bags of this stuff, all were wet, sludge and big chunks that I had to break apart in every bag. made the project slow and had to use more to finish the job.

Heavy

Not sure, these were heavy to move. Im still not sure why lowes refused to deliver. It was a ton of stuff we ordered.

Poor packaging results in high loss

The bags for this are extremely thin plastic and a high percentage are broken at the store or broken when moving. Many bags are wet inside resulting in more weight and more breakage. Will not be buying again.
