Not worth the 1 Star

Tried to install drain and the metal pieces that hold the drain in place broke off. Not worth the money I spent on it.

Easy to install, easy to change, stops hair from clogging the drain. !!!

Junk

Great concept with the basket that can be replaced. However, this piece of junk is made of plastic and the first time I stepped on it it cracked. If this was made of stainless steel it would be a great item. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Just what I needed

Had a normal shower drain cover, got married she has long blonde hair, said the drain might get stopped up suggested I do something to prevent. Lowes had just what I need, was where I thought it might be, had to look around for it, I would think you place this item in the bathroom section of the store. Anyway it looks and works great.

A good idea for a shower drain

This basket strainer is a good solution. It's easy to remove the basket for cleaning. The reason for only 4 stars is that it didn't have a good tight fit in my drain, so I used a rope of plumbers putty to keep it in place. Otherwise it's a great idea and reasonably priced.

great replacement for fixed cover

I could no longer attach a cover to my shower drain as the bolts for the screws had rusted out. I was afraid this unit would be flimsy, but I am pleasantly suprised. It stays in place, works well, is attractive, and it does catch the hair.

Awesome

This product is awesome, it fit the drain in my shower. It has held up over time, changing the hair catcher is easy.

Great idea, bad fit

The product packaging says "Universal Fit." It appears to be made to replace a 4.25 inch snap-in shower strainer, but like another reviewer stated, it is too loose. The spring clips are not wide enough apart to give any tension in my 4.25 inch PVC flange and it just sits loosely over drain. Since I don't want to glue it in place with silicone, I will be returning it.

Good buy

This is a big improvement over a standard shower drain. It collects a lot of hair rather than letting it on down the drain where it has caused me trouble in the past. I also do not worry about loosing something small down the drain now. The only problem is that the center basket is a bit hard to remove and normally requires my pocket knife to snap it out.

Catches hair after mod.

This did not fit my drain. Mine has 2 screws that hold the original drain cover on. I modified the hair catcher by drilling 2 holes so I could mount it to the original flange. My house was built in 2006. Make sure your drain just pops out before buying or you will have to be handy and make a mod. to this item. Other than the above it does work catching hair.

Because of the plastic basket attached to the drain cover hardly any hair gets down the drain, it's great.

Would not fit two inch shower drain. Baker is really tough to remove.

better than nothing at all

I finally got tired of spending my saturday afternoons snaking the shower drains in the house from all the hair from my wife and daughters. gross!!! This is designed to replace the existing drain cover in the standup shower, and hopefully capture the hair prior to getting clogged up in the ptrap under the floor. Did the job in preventing clogs because of the inside basket that collects hair. Just hope that the store will carry the baskets as a replacement when needed.

house built in 2010 this was to large for drain

My shower drain was to small for this. The places the screws go in prevented it from going in. Maybe more sizes would be good. Great concept but I had to take it back.

A shower must have!!

I bought this drain cover about a week ago because the shower water was draining slowly due to all my hair getting clogged down there. In one week time I couldn't believe how much hair was in there. I can only imagine what my drain pipes look like before I got this. Easy to install & lays flush with the shower floor.

So far, so good

I had a constantly clogging shower stall drain. After removing the drain cover, I set this device in it's place; so far, 2 weeks later, no signs of slow draining, which is a MAJOR improvement. Very easy to "install" though my shower floor is tiled, so it didn't quite fit exactly in the drain opening. As such, some of the water (and hair) does not actually go through the drain cover, rather it goes under it.
