If used as designed that's not a big deal, but since we want to hang it on the wall vertically, we may have to paint those sides. Easy to assemble.
Easy to put together, my only complaint is this thing is tiny. I'm a dude and I can only fit one shoe in each slot. So it only holds 7 1/2 pairs of shoes. Hiking boots fit? Forget it.

Would Recommendi purchased the 20 cube organizer over a year ago to store shoes. it is attractive, sturdy and the slots are perfect for my size 11 shoes. I have gottten compliments on how orderly my shoes are stored. it was relatively easy to put together. i will buy the 15 cube to sit on top of the 20 cube bin.

Would Not RecommendThe product is unfinished on one side of 2 of the boards so you can only use it one direction instead of both directions or the ugly unfinished boards will show. I thought I had a defective one but I called the company & they said that's how they make them now. I bought one awhile back & was happy with it , it was finished all over & I could use it vertically & horizontially.......not now. I'm afraid moisture will get in the unfinished sides. Cubes are a little small for good size shoes.
