What Customers Are Saying
The product is a mixed bag in terms of effectiveness. It works well for removing multiple layers of paint, varnish, and shellac from various surfaces, with a pleasant citrus scent and a gel-like consistency that is easy to apply. However, it may require multiple applications and extensive scrubbing to fully remove stubborn, thick, or older finishes, and can potentially discolor or damage the underlying surface. The product's performance can be inconsistent, and it may dry out too quickly, making it difficult to remove.

This product doesn’t perform very well at all
It doesn’t work very well at all
Didn’t work well
Would Not RecommendDidn’t work well. I wanted to like it because it was eco friendly but it was still really hard to get the paint off the picnic table I was working on. Ending up having to buy the kind that wasn’t eco friendly and had to wear a mask with.
Took multiple thick coats and still had to sand
Would Not RecommendI used this stripper on a painted wood door project and was disappointed with the overall performance. I had to apply two very thick coats and leave it wrapped in plastic for nearly 24 hours before it removed a significant amount of paint. Even after that, there was still a lot of scraping and sanding required to get the remaining finish off. I also went through the entire large bottle on only half of my project, which made it less cost effective than expected. It may work better for lighter fin...
Waste of time
Would Not RecommendI bought CitiStrip for a bed headboard that only had the thinnest of varnish on it. I let it sit for almost 4 hours, covered up with a plastic drop cloth. It was gummy and there was no getting it off with mineral spirits and steel wool or scraper or brush. AND it smells disgusting. It made me nauseous even with a mask and an industrial air purifier running. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. IMAGE THERE IS NEGATIVE TEN RATING FOR THIS PRODUCT.
Works great on polyurethane
Would RecommendWe had put truck bed liner on the bottom of a jonboat. We painted the Citristrip on, covered with plastic and let sit overnight. The next day most of the bed liner material came right off with a scrapper.
