I am a custom home builder/renovatoe. I had this for just over a year and rarely used it until recently. Super handy especially in tight spaces (crawl spaces) and super handy for estimating material quantities for jobs. I found mine was using up the batteries quickly. Then it just stopped working completely. Just 2 weeks past one year. I have Bosch tools that never let me down. Disappointed as not the cheapest EDM out there.

Accurate, Easy to Read, Affordable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bosch Blaze GLM 42 was my first laser measure tool that I bought. I have used other branded units that are more expensive and this laser measure far exceeds them. The screen is easy to read and very bright. This unit has great features and is very accurate. I would recommend the Bosch Blaze GLM 42 to anyone.

Very accurate laser

No more trying to hold a tape above my head to have it break over and have to start over. No more moving furniture around to get accurate measurements

Perfect for quick measurements

I like using it for when I go into a job and need to get a few long length measurements I can just point this around the room and get all the measurements I need. I also use it for when I’m measuring for all my baseboards and shoe so I don’t have to hassle with my tape measure.

Very accurate

Long-Time Bosch User

I've been using the GLM30 (100' range) at work for several years and found it to be quite useful and accurate. However, the small display makes it hard for me to see as I get older. The GLM42 does not have a display as big as the GLM50 but it is much better and also has built in level which may come in handy. Overall a great purchase

Awesome little device

Great piece of gear for measuring room size and spacing on shelves. I carry it in my pocket or pouch all the time. It is as important as my phone now.

Very easy to use.

I purchased this when i was ready to install crown molding, with measurements down to ?/32" of an inch the crown turned out great.

Don't put it in your pocket....

I purchased one of these to replace an older unit I used for measuring spaces in my professional contracting projects. Overall nice unit. Does some handy calculaations like finds the area, etc. Nice on-off feature for the laser and measiring, which locks the distance on the screen so you can turn it to read. But one huge, huge, HUGE flaw. The power button. When I put it in my pocket or even in the too-tight holster that comes with the unit, the goosebump-like power button gets depressed and...

Perfect for occasional professional use

The GLM-42 is at that sweet spot of giving you all the convenient features for takeoffs, as-builts, and VIFs (like indirect measurements, ample memory, and backlit colour display) along with a capable 135 ft range that you would need for occasional or daily use on smaller scale interior projects.
