Terrible Plastic Can

When I first bought this in a plastic can I thought it’d be good (the tin ones were sometimes a little temperamental when lees than half full). Does the manufacturer not test the new plastic can before imposing it on old loyal customers? The first leaked everywhere and I thought I was unlucky and bought another. 3 in One Oil

I’ve used this product for as long as I can remember. In use it on everything including all of my firearms. The old metal bottle was the best. I bough the plastic bottle. It’s terrible. Thank goodnesses I had it in a zip lock freezer bag within my ammunition bucket. It leaked all over. Bring back the metal can with the push down lid. That type of can never failed me! Outstanding product. I just won’t carry it around any longer. It will stay at home. That’s too bad.

Great product

I have loved this product since childhood. Used it mostly to oil our bike chains and electric racing and train sets. With WD-40 I forgot about this. WD-40 doesnt last as long as 3 and 1. I recommend this product for all household small lubrication needs.

Good all-around lubricant for home basics

I use this oil for most of my home needs, from squeaky doors, to lubricating some of my woodworking tools requiring a light machine oil.

this works amazing

I used this for my lawn care company to fix some squeaky push mower choke and blade levers and the springs and linkages, and it stopped it so well! I was soo happy! Would absutely recommend!

Bad Packaging, Great Oil

The bottle leaks! The oil is great for application on my barbells, but it leaked all over my cabinet when it was stored. Disappointing and made a mess.

Bottle is not effective

I fight in an armored combat league using medieval weapons and equipment. I used 3-in-1 oil to keep my armor /weapons from rusting. It is effective and keeps everything looking good. I do have a complaint about the bottles as well. I have used multiple bottle of the last few years and the new ones are not good. The plastic is not very good at keeping the bottles from leaking. Great oil

Have been using this oil since 1950. My father and grandfather both always had cans of 3-in1 oil! I was hoping that if I ordered same it would be in the metal can.Do not like the new plastic bottles as they are flawed. I will pour the contents of the 3 bottles that I just got ,through Amazon, into metal oil cans. Bummer!

Great oil

When my father bought his house from my grandfather, a small METAL bottle of this was sitting in the utility room. We always looked at it as a sign of good luck because house us great and we actually used the same bottle of oil to improve our home. So many uses. i had to replace my old can of 3 in 1 & after looking online & in stores, it seems they only sell it in plastic containers now.

Plastic bottle - oh dear

I've used 3-in-one for over 40 years and it's always been my go-to oil around the workshop and house. But moving to a plastic bottle is the worst design & product decision ever made. Apart from being environmentally unfriendly, it simply doesn't function as well as the original metal can (as can be seen by the number of 1-star reviews). It eventually leaks and the dispensing control is hopeless. Please, please bring the metal can back!! Until you do, I'll not be buying it again.

Sounds like 3-in-1 has managed to take a perfect product and ruin it by changing the bottle.

still my go to household oil

Oil is great at lubricating everything around the house. Yes, the newer plastic container can leak when attempting to pull the cap off. Instead of cutting the tip use a tack or needle to make a small hole. This allows a drop each squeeze and no siphoning effect. Also, hold the bottle by the top corners.

As others pointed out, bottle is terrible design

I read other reviews about the oil spilling out but I needed oil to lube my hedger so I got it any way. I cut a small hole and after I was done using it, I capped it and wrapped 2 ziplock bags and kept it indoors. A month later I opened to use it, and the cap seemed to have bonded to the tip. I pulled it hard and the tip broke off inside the cap. I tried to remove the broken tip from the cap and no use. Now I have no cap for the oil. The bottle is really cheap quality. Product is great, packaging is pitiful

I've used 3-in1 for about 35 years on sewing machines, firearms tools, hinges, you name it. Has always worked and done the job of cleaning and lubricating parts. Only drawback is the plastic bottle isn't worth 2 cents. Just go to your local hardware store and get an oil can. Yes, people, they still make those. Great 80% Lower Milling Oil

I have used this to lubricate both my drill press and milling router to make multiple 80% lowers with no issues. The fact that the milling bit has lasted through as many complete lowers as it has speaks for this products effectiveness.

Great oil, terrible bottle!! Leaks out

The last two bottles of 3 in One oil that I purchased leaked out all over my shop shelf and work table. After the first one leaked out I thought maybe I had dropped it and perhaps cracked the bottle. I bought another one and after a short period of time it began leaking also. The plastic bottles are clearly defective. I got virtually little to no use from either bottle, only an oily mess to clean up.
