What Customers Are Saying

The Cabot solid exterior wood stain provides good coverage and protection for outdoor surfaces. Many customers reported the stain went on smoothly, covered well in one or two coats, and offered a durable, long-lasting finish that resisted the elements. The color selection was also praised. However, some customers received the wrong color or an unstained base that required tinting, and a few found the stain to be more paint-like than a true stain. Overall, the stain is considered a good quality product when the right color is obtained.

Missing color

Would Not Recommend

I ordered a half pint of Mission Brown solid stain and instead received the untinted base. Thinking this was a one time mistake I ordered a second one but once again received the base. There is obviously a disconnect where the transfer of the base to the mixing station step is missed. Won't try again.

The guy in the store didn't even know what he was doing. He said it wasn't his department. He took 25 minutes helping the customer in front of me and 25 minutes to mix my paint. He said their was no manager available!

Would Recommend

We have Cedar on our home; we only use Cabot Stain, as we’ve had great success with it - great coverage and durability; we only need to stain approximately every 15 years.
