Can the lockset be changed such that the teeth of the key would be inserted upwards rather than downward, that is, can it be changed, or reversed?


Contact Kwikset Customer Service, they will ship you the tool in about 10 days. The problem is the tool comes with NO DIRECTIONS!! You can view the "how to" instructions at the Kwikset web site BUT those pictures are not real detailed and you need alot of "trial & error" time. When removing the cylinder BE SURE to mark it's position so that you don't re-install it in the same position (180 degree turn). Patience prevails - I had 4 sets to change and after the first 1 the rest went a little easier.

Kwikset does offer a tool to flip the cylinder on the knob called a cylinder removal tool. Please contact your local Lowes lock department for cylinder removal tool availability.
