Not quite a drop in replacement

Bought as a replacement for an old Kwickset door knob / dead bolt assembly in an existing door - probably 30 years old. The door knob assembly was a drop in replacement, the deadbolt was not. The new bolt was somewhat larger than the one to be replaced. As I did not have the required drill bit to open up the bolt through hole, I was forced to use the old bolt but it did operate mechanically with the new bolt's escutcheon & internal lock assembly. Last locket I bought was this company never had any problems 10 years later buy a new set because the old one finally need to be replaced. Bought the first one it didn’t fit right had to return. It bought the second lock set didn’t fit right the deadbolt was too long to go in there. It was made incorrectly. I had lever type doorknobs, and it took my Dobies about 1 minute to figure out how to open them. So far without thumbs, they cannot open the doors. Having a matching set for the security door is nice and they are keyed the same

Don't buy these

The back plate doesn't line up with know holes and shouldn't have passed quality control. The inside pin is plastic.

Failed dangerously, could not open unlocked door.

The latch was installed on a new door, that opened and closed very smoothly, still it somehow failed and would not open when unlocked, even with the knobs taken off, it wouldn't budge. I had to cut it out. I'm glad I didn't have a fire or emergency, because I would have been stuck in or out of my house.
